Norv will help the offense more than reaching on players in a weak draft.. The draft is strong in secondary players that is where the value is... Trying to force prospects out of a sense of need gets you wasted draft picks...

I am not sure I would call getting one of the best WRs available at 24, a reach. In this draft. If you want a quality WR, you need to get him early. Whereas, if you want a quality DB, you can get one later.

Would also like to add. We drafted Samuel in the 2nd last year. With mixed results. I am not a fan of those who want to wait until the 3rd to nab a WR. That just does not seem to make sense to me. Especially in this draft. Now if you get that WR in the 5th, or later. Getting a kid to develop for next year, and beyond. Then I can live with that.

IMO, this draft is set up into two tiers. If you want a quality WR, or TE. You had better get him early. Whereas, you can still get a quality DB, or OL in the 2nd, and 3rd rounds.

Would love it if by the end of the 3rd round we've added a WR, CB, TE, and S. IMO, that would be ideal but you won't hear any complaints from me if we take Harold Landry at #24 if he falls.

Yeah I’m the same, if we go WR,de,cb or Ot in the first I’m happy, Ot obviously being low on that list. But if we go wr in the first I hope we trade up in the 2nd  and grab a guy like Oliver early or Reid, can always trade into the 4th and grab a rb, and hoping that we use those comp picks as ammo to move up in the 2-3 rds. I think there will be some good safeties still left in the later rounds.

Best WR in a weak Wr draft is the point.. Each WR in this draft has a ? that would make them the 4th or 5th wr in a better draft... Teams choose to pay avg. Wr big money because this draft wasn't that good at that position.. The signs are there..

I know ppl want WR so bad that they will even draft a lesser prospect but in the end you'll just want another WR next year.. When the guy isn't what you thought he will be...

And the DB thing works in our favor this year.. The draft is strong at DB because you have top 10 talent as well as good talent thru the draft.. And since this draft has a lot of QBS and QB needy teams a better DB prospect will drop to us when in other drafts we wouldn't have a chance..

Every draft prospect in the history of drafts has a massive ? in that they've never played a single NFL snap. I think the lack of sure-fire top 10 prospects makes everyone think this is a weak overall WR draft. I don't think that's the case at all. I think it's a pretty strong overall WR draft, it's just "weak" if you're a team with a top 10 draft pick wishing that there was a sure-fire top 10 prospect at WR there. There isn't, but that doesn't mean there isn't good overall depth in the class. I think there is.

I guess I just don't see the ?s you do with the top WRs. If we can get Ridley, or Moore? That is top talent. I don't care what year it is. If we are taking a WR this year, I would hope it is one of those two. Otherwise, never mind drafting one at all.

Same with TE. When the pickin' is slight, and you get a chance to get one of the really good ones? Not sure you can pass that up.

Whereas, with all those DBs. We should be able to get quality into the 3rd round. When you have a position heavy draft, like DBs, you can take your time getting one.

I will say this. It all comes down to your philosophy. Do you want your top talent on Offense? Or Defense? Folks complain endlessly that Cam has no weapons. Yet they are willing to pass on top Offensive talent, to draft Defense.

Meaning the guy you can get in the 1st round might be as effective as the guy you can get in the 3rd... All the wr's are near the same range..

You're right not having top 10 talent to go with regular talent does make this a weaker draft. But you can't overlook the fact that a lot of meh vet WR'S talent got paid big.. There is a reason for that..

Teams are scared because a lot of highly drafted WRs haven't panned out in recent years. It's still dumb to massively overpay mediocre talent.

I just don't buy into this idea of multiple prospects being "in the same range". This talk happens every year, but fast forward a few years and all of sudden those guys usually didn't turn out to be "in the same range" at all. Gotta trust your scouting, right or wrong. If you have a bunch of guys lumped together in the same range, that's probably a good sign that you need to do some more scouting.

IMO, it all comes down to where you actually feel we need a top talent. Some folks think we need to go Offense, some are on the Defensive train. All I know is that whoever we take at #24 is probably going to make us better. And believe it or not. I can live with that.

That said, I really expect us to take a CB, or WR in the 1st. With a lean towards WR.

Actually, with 4 picks in the top 100, I am really excited about the infusion of talent coming down the pike.

I think we need talent infusion badly at both WR and CB. I'm fine with going either direction at #24. Ideally, give me WR, CB, TE, and S with those first four picks. I wish it was a better DE class because I think we really need some young talent at DE too, but it's just not a good 4-3 DE class at all.

More faith in Norv, Smith, and Wright helping the offense.. Than our secondary as it stands stopping anybody...

Breeland screwed our plans. We wouldn't be so bad as it stands now if he didn't fail his physical.

Ridely is frail and while being a great route runner he has drop problems..  He might not have the strength to beat press coverage right away..

Moore who I love still has a lofty transition period and doesn't fully run the full route tree yet.. Imo he isn't a day one starter and will take time beating out Smith and Wright for playing time..

Plus if they were great prospects without ? we wouldn't have a chance at 24 getting them with all the WR needy teams (Dallas, Bmore) in front of us... That should make you pause a little...

I think all the TE in this draft are 2nd round prospects.. You should be able to get 1 of the top 5 in the 3rd... They all are around the same prospect..

DB we need day one starters.. And the more time you wait the less likely you get one who is a sure fire day one starter..

My philosophy is we are closer to a top 5 defense than offense.. No matter what you draft this year .. You will still have a problem at LT and a okay WR core... If we go defense 1st we can have a solid secondary to go with a really good front 7...

You sure seem to be going out of your way to downplay the talents of a Ridley, or Moore. Even in a "Weak class", the top talent can still be really good. There is a reason these guys are slotted at the top of the WR boards. They are good.

Listen, I am not advocating for either one really. I just feel like you are downplaying the talent of some of these guys.

That is one reason but all those teams have scouting staffs to.. Maybe they are seeing what you have already said.. There maybe some good potential players in this draft.. But not having a top 10 talent might mean you don't have a day 1 starter.. And most teams want a day 1 starter out of their 1st round pick.. So teams paid more for vets feeling they have a guy that can have instant impact instead of waiting on a prospect they know needs development...

It is what it is.  Luckily this draft is full of day 1 starters in the secondary... It would be smart to get full advantage of this.
