Hurney ranked 24th out of 26 experienced GM’s

Nobody with a brain thinks we took a step forward in the GM department. Of course DG made mistakes. So does Every GM.  But to pretend he was terrible or on Hurneys level ( although thats a redundant statement) is ridiculous.

You are funny. I remember an earlier article which ranked Hurney high which you lambasted. Now another guy comes out and ranks Hurney's poorly and suddenly the gospel is being preached. Let's be real, you don't like Hurney and bash him at every turn. That is fine because you have a right to your opinion. Like everyone here. But your extreme bias actually works against you. Instead of seeing you as an unbiased objective observer (if such an animal actually exists) you come across as predictable and linear locked into a narrow point of view. If you want to be more credible, you might consider a more tempered approach which acknowledges both successes and failures with  equal consideration.  It is simply making an opinion which presents both sides of the argument but leans toward your point of view. One sided arguments rarely change anyone's  opinion as you don't hear anything you agree with as you prepare your reply. It gives you no credibility because it gets instantly rejected based on your unrelenting and predictable  negativity. So when you actually do make a good post and you do .... It gets lost in the extreme characterizations.

ah ok just what I thought, this never happened. I knew there was not a single person on this planet who is paid to cover football that would put Hurney above Gettleman on any GM list.

I can think of one that accomplished this in his 1st 3 seasons(instead of his 1st 11 years).

Let that sink in.

Yeh Dave did it better, and Dave is a better GM overall, I’m just saying it like it is, not being a hater just to make drama or a Hurney Dave saga.

hurney did draft Cam and Luke back to back, and did have Deangelo, Stewart, Steve Smith, Thomas Davis playing lights out, the wife beater, and others to help set Dave up for a 3 year perfect storm that should have 2 Superbowls had we not had Ron and Shula,... yeh we should have been in the Harbaugh bowl,..

Hard to find just Hurney ranked because most articles do.it by team or in the last five years or ten years. But here is one evaluating the last 10 drafts from 2005 through 2014 which mostly includes Hurney given that while Gettleman is briefly mentioned all the probowlers mentioned were Hurney. We ranked 11th. Pretty good  actually.

Here is another one since 1996 through 2013 for the Panthers. Using the comparison of expected value versus actual value (have no clue the analytics) but the Panthers were tied with 4 other teams at +3 occupying positions 9 through 13.

There are others out there but the consensus is that compared to other teams under mostly Hurney and some Gettleman the Panthers rank somewhere around 10th.

I bet it isn't hard to find others as well.

overall, not now. also ron is a good HC, most teams would be in flames and we wouldn't have been in the playoffs had he not been our HC unless belicheck suddenly became avalible after the fins game.
