Facts about Jackson- only a 2 star recruit coming out of high school Has started only 14 games for Iowa which is not school noted for real athletic players and ran only 4.56 40 which slow for an nfl corner Might be worth fourth rounder but not first People are over celebrating the game vs Ohio st where Barrett stunk

L O L

He did only start one year.  But Iowa did have some decent talent around. Another CB fell in last years draft because slower than expected 40, but he was also 5'10.  He ended up grading out with White as the top rookie DB not named Lattimore

And only judge off of one year?  Only a 2 star?

High school stars dont mean crap.  Bradley Chubb was only a low 3* and didnt blow up until this last year, now he's the top defensive prospect in the draft

Josh Norman came from a small school not known for athletes. only started and had 1.5 years good seasons.

Iowa not known for good athletes?  George Kittle the TE last year, was one of the biggest freaks at the position the last few years.

Slow.  Dude had a 4.49 40 on his first combine run and a 4.52 at his pro day, which is plenty fast.  Did you ever go look how fast Norman was?  If he read QBs and offenses well, along good reaction speed.  It doesnt matter if you run a 4.35 or a 4.55.

One good game?  Yeah he had one great game vs Ohio State. 3 ints.  You think Barrett sucked that game because he faced  a elite DB.  Guess every QB that faces Sherman, Norman, etc just has a bad game?

Might only be a 4th rounder minus the Ohio State game?  You dont watch much football do you.  You dont grade out among the top of your position off 1 game.  Perine wasnt the top RB last years draft or graded out as one of the top despite breaking the D1 record most rushing yards in a game.  Clayborn for the falcons wasnt the top DE last year after having the Huge game vs the Cowboys.

The Only reason why Jackson isnt going in the top 10, is because concerns of how he does in man on Coverage.  Where he struggled at that part of the combine.  He is a Zone CB and thats the system we run.  Thats what we need.  And thats what he's good at.

You couldnt take Norman and throw him into a man on defense and expect him to shut down.  Thats not his game and he would really struggle.

Tell me which Facts I have wrong . Did he not start just 14 games? Did he not run 4.56 official time? Was he not just a two star recruit? The other things are a matter of opinion but he would be a very risky first round pick imo

We need to get away from strictly zone corners. We need corners  that can cover man to man too, good qbs destroy us in zone. Rivera needs to adjust his scheme to keep up with the league. Jackson has great ball skills but i worry if he can keep up with elite wideouts enough so he can even get a chance to use those ball skills. I think jaire Alexander as better option is where im leaning towards. If we draft Jackson so be it. I just hope he ends up being a lot more versatile then he looks

In terms of size and athleticism another slightly smaller Worley is Jackson

But we are a zone team primarily. You want the guys who fit your scheme.

The scheme isnt WORKING. Which is why i suggested we should move more towards man to man but drafting guys who can actually do it. How many times on game day we complain about how are DBs cant cover anybody? Even in zone scheme.

You dont see a ongoing problem here?

Josh Norman ran a 4.57

Richard Sherman ran a 4.56

Casey Hayward ran a 4.57

40 times don't really mean much for zone corners.

This team needs a CB who can play legitimate press man. Jackson is a soft, flat footed zone CB whose handwork isn't much better.

"that totally fits our scheme!" Then it shouldn't. Your scheme should never mandate taking inferior talents.

Haha so cmc could have been a corner as he played corner in high school? Ran 4.48 and the perfect size and athleticism for the position

Exactly, dude can pluck the ball out the air with best of them. But his footwork scares me, what does it really matter if the WR leaves him the dust?
