Heck, we don't even know if they know any of the same people.  I would assume there are some links, but couldn't say for certain.

If Navarro is worth just the 3 billion that has been reported (just lol), then I think most likely he would only be willing to invest maybe 1-1.5 billion of his own money.  And with it being reported that he only has a couple of investors, it leads me to think that at least one of them has some very deep pockets.  It might not be Goodnight, but someone with multiple billions in their wallet.  I'll be curious to find out who has signed on with Navarro.

It has also been reported that Navarro has a couple of investors, so whomever they are likely has pretty deep pocket (relatively speaking).  Nobody knows who Navarro's investors are or the level of Goodnight's actual interest.  So it's just guessing and connecting dots at this point. 

Fair enough. I have no information on minority bidders whatsoever (beyond the family wealth behind National Gypsum being attached to the Kestenbaum bid)...I have only really heard about top-billing players in this little drama. My statement on Goodnight was mostly an assumption, based on what I know about his existing role...and the simple fact that I would have heard more otherwise. Hell, we all would have.

Another question I have is will Navarro still operate Sherman Financial if he gets the team or will he turn his attention to running the Panthers.  And as I think about it, how much would he pocket if he decided to sell Sherman?  Could that give him the capital to buy the team on his own if he wanted?  I really don't think Tepper would run this team on a day to day basis since for him it's more of an investment that puts him in the "club," whereas Navarro seems to have a passion for the Panthers.  So would Navarro want to be more involved in the day to day operations, or would he be willing to continue his business and let others worry about the daily activities of the team?

I really don’t want Tepper to own this team. He’s a Steelers guy first and foremost who seems to lack passion and excitement to be the owner the Panthers. Navarro seems like the complete opposite of Tepper, which I like.

Sure. I get that. My feelings aren't about Richardson and what he did or did not do, they're about the intensely image-conscious nature of culture. Maybe it didn't come out the way I intended.

Richardson aside, the NFL reeks of artifice, an insincere facade only concerned with the product value/consumer sentiment, from where I sit. And if they have to manufacture positive sentiment, they're happy do do so. They've become an arrogant and callous behemoth, only offering the expected/demanded cultural response, with eyes perpetually fixed on nothing but the bottom line. They're a soulless entity imo. (Not that they vary from many corporate structures, necessarily.)

What I mean is that it's unlikely they (collectively) give two bits about Richardson and his behavior. They only care about how association with him affects the perception of the product.

I know it's to be expected in the business world, but I'm just fatigued by it.

My estimation was that Navarro probably put up two billion. I could easily see it being one and a half though.

Guess we'll find out.

Been thinking about that too.

Our buddy @TheMaulClaw has a friend who works for Navarro. He said the Panthers have been his sole focus ever since the process started.  Makes me think that if he buys the team, owner of the Panthers is going to become his primary job.

And quite frankly, I'm fine with that.

Me too.  I definitely prefer someone whose primary focus is the Panthers over someone whose attention is divided...as long as he knows the difference between running the team and meddling.
