Panthers War Room: Projecting Carolina's first 4 selections

My Wishlist

1. Harold Landry DE- Not the prototypical 4-3 end size, but I love the bend and speed. Doubt he drops, but if he does I want him. I see DE as a major need and don't see much depth at that position in later rounds.

2. One of the 3 TEs that drop. I think of all 3 Goedert might fall. Hurst is a better all-round TE and some team will reach for Gesicki because of the speed.

3a. RB: Don't know which RB will be there but any of the following I would like of have a possibility of being there. Chubb, Kerryon Johnson, Penny

3b: WR St. Brown: Tall and fast. We don't really have any receivers that fit his mold.

Something like that would make me happy.

I have a feeling we are done with getting any tall WR.

We sign a FA, we lose our 3rd comp pick, Hurney won't be that dumb

No we don't. We are -2 in UFA signings for the year, no future comp picks should be in jeopardy for a $3m contract at this point. Also, I'm told May 8 is the start date when we can sign UFA without any UFA impacting comp picks regardless of number of contracts or amount. No reason why we couldn't sign them after that date. But I could be wrong with all of this.

Where did you get your info from?

...and most years I would agree with you but considering our upcoming retirees I'd rather put a strong team together this year.

It's as if other teams are putting some good players together to win games but we don't in order to win comp picks? Come on. That's not going to fly with me this year.

I agree 100%, I look at the team needs and would say fug a comp 3rd, we need Reid, or even Vacarro isn't a bad pick up, but people value 3rd round comp picks now like crazy, especially since they can be traded now. Nothing that we've done in recent history would suggest we care about picking up the right players for what we need as a team for the current season, hopefully with new owners comes new management that knows how to run a solid team. It seems like for years now we've been squeeking by on player talent and not on coaching and management. fug, I could ramble on all day, but I'm gonna drink this jack and just focus on the draft for now haha
