Has a football background because his dad was a college coach.

Per a poster on here, said by one employee to be a very humble and likable person.

Reportedly very passionate about wanting the team.

Only possible hurdle: they have to make sure he can secure the funds to write the check.

(somebody tell him Felix will chip in, if needed)

I just hope he cares about winning and wont accept anything but that. If people aint cutting it i want him to cut bait and get people who do cut what needs to be cut.

David Newton believes he'll use a consultant to hire a GM and let them do the hands on work.

I would imagine JR favors Navarro for being from the Carolinas and having a strong background in football from his dad. I'd imagine JR is looking for a younger version of himself and Navarro fits the mold much more than anyone else.

His dad was a relatively big football coach, I think he'll use a consultant as well which will be good but it's not like he's a football dummy.

We speculated a long time ago that the choice could be between a guy with ties to the region vs a guy who's part of Richardson's model franchise.

The general assumption was that the Steelers guy would offer the higher bid.  He didn't.  In fact, it sounds like his bid was the lowest of the bunch.

Breer pointed out in his prior article that Tepper had a ceiling but Navarro seemed to want the team pretty badly. I'd like to believe that Navarro wanting the team as badly as he seems to is a good sign for the future.

Is Navarro the one that has been closely compared to JR for an owner? I know there was one prospective guy that people said has a similar MO as Richardson.

David Newton has described him as having a very similar personality.

That doesn't necessarily mean he'd run the team the exact same way, of course.

Little tidbit from the article...

Quote

Richardson, the Panthers’s founder and owner, said he would sell the team in December, shortly after an article in Sports Illustrated linked him to allegations of sexual harassment. The N.F.L. is investigating those allegations. Richardson was initially seeking at least $3 billion for his team, but trimmed his expectations when no potential buyers emerged at that price.
