In conversations with a bevy of league officials, as many as nine coaches – or almost a third of the league — could possibly be fired. Among the teams that are leaning heavily toward jettisoning their head coaches, according to league sources, are Memphis, Charlotte and Orlando. Additionally, Milwaukee, barring a deep run in the playoffs, and Phoenix are expected to hire new head coaches this summer.

Potential names that are popping up around the league for replacements as a whole (not just for the Hornets) include: Jerry Stackhouse (Raptors 905 coach), Nick Nurse (Toronto assistant coach), Monty Williams (San Antonio VP of operations), Mark Jackson (ESPN Analyst), Kevin McHale (Turner Sports Analyst), Jeff Van Gundy (ESPN Analyst), Rick Pitino (Former Louisville Head Coach), David Fizdale (Former Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach), Jason Kidd (Former Milwaukee Bucks Head Coach), Jay Wright (Villanova University Head Coach), Tony Bennett (University of Virginia Head Coach), and David Blatt (Darüşşafaka Head Coach).

Current head coaches that could be interested in coaching elsewhere include Doc Rivers (Los Angeles Clippers Head Coach) and Mike Budenholzer (Atlanta Hawks Head Coach).

Current head coaches that may be available if not retained include Jeff Hornacek (New York Knicks Head Coach) and Stan Van Gundy (Detroit Pistons President and Head Coach).

Current interim coaches that could be available include Joe Prunty (Milwaukee Bucks Interim Head Coach) and Jay Triano (Phoenix Suns Interim Head Coach)

Anyone in particular you guys want if Coach Cliff is not retained?

Jay Wright - could he be next Brad Stevens? Idk, im not up on college coach prospects

Wright is amazing but doubt he would leave Nova.  Great coach though, good call.

One name on that list in the OP - Rick Pitino?  No way there.

Jerry Stackhouse is going to be looped into this team due to his UNC connection. That being said, he's been really good at his current post in the G League. Won a title there. I think he'd be a great Assistant/Assoc Head Coach to start.

Tony Bennett is a former Hornet and runs a defensive heavy system which should be something we are used to.

However, I think we need to go with a coach that is more offensively minded given the skillset of some of our younger assets. Idk what name to give you that qualifies to be honest.

    • It didn’t feel like we’re the Bills bc we’re not a consistent conference contender yet we’re a rebuilding team. But with the game on the line we played just like the Bills went straight down the field and scored a tuddy then converted a 2pt conversion I have to give credit where credit is due. And the chiefs played us like we were the Bills in an AFC championship game, drive down the field and kicked a walk off FG to win at the end very similar to me. Are saying our defense stunk yesterday? Vs an elite offense team with elite coaching an elite QB man idk what you want them to do. KC does these things to the best defenses in the league consistently to win AFC chips and Super Bowls let’s not devalue who they are. I saw us play KC to the wire and barely lose defense did its thing as much as it could. Bingo!!! We’re also forgetting how injured we’ve been defensively this year, yes we need to build up the D but adding a few pieces and D Browns successful rehab should make us a very strong unit again. Couple that with the offense we saw yesterday and we’re winning our division.
    • Canales deserves a lot of credit. I'm very pleased. He's definitely making strides with Bryce. I also think some of his lack of commitment to Bryce as the starter is to motivate Bryce. I think he liked what he saw when Bryce was benched.  Even the Defense looks tremendously better with just a couple more pieces getting healthy. Wonnum has made our pass rush viable again.  I would love to see this team with one more good player across the defensive front, DT or an edge rusher.
    • I didn’t see any limitations yesterday
