The Panthers care more about driving traffic to their website than creating spin about their possible draft interests that other teams’ GMs are mostly certainly not reading.

You are suggesting they do absolutely nothing to shield their draft strategy? They can't be that stupid.

They probably do this by sharing little to nothing of their actual draft strategy with their media team.

I'm glad somebody sees what I was getting at. Suggesting they just assume it's not looked at would be a stupid and easily  avoidable situation.

If the Patriots film your practices from the condos nearby they probably take a quick look at your website where Voth gives away draft info

Tell me who we are drafting since he gave away so much info....

And using another poster’s assumption doesn’t strengthen your suggestion. But finding an example of where any of the Panthers guys just made up some false narrative to be a “mouthpiece of the team” would.

I think it's a pretty safe assumption that Voth nor any of the other media types are included on the details of future plans for the roster. That would just be dumb. It's not a slight on Voth or any other reporters/analysts, it's just common sense on how businesses operate.

I would say that’s not a safe assumption. They had a team at McCaffrey’s house. They are involved.

Who said they were involved in the decisions? I said they are aware of what’s going on.

Everyone and their brother was "aware of what's going on" leading up to the last few drafts. The Shaq, Butler, and CMC picks were all widely speculated. Maybe we need to tighten things up in house.

I think need always factors into the equation but teams don’t just draft for the upcoming season. You’re hoping to get a decade of high level play out of a 1st round pick. That’s where Hurst’s age WILL impact his draft value despite certain Huddlers’ consternation over the fact. You’re probably only getting 5-7 years of high level play out of him if he pans out and he’ll be looking to cash in on his second contract right around the time he’s nearing the end of his prime. By the time he should be peaking in terms of NFL experience he’ll probably already be on the decline physically. It’s definitely a factor that NFL teams will consider when grading him.

If any GM believes that Hurst will be an elite tight end then he's obviously going to be in consideration for a first round draft pick. Elite players generally have a longer career on average than anyone else (barring injury of course). Now no one knows for sure if Hurst will be that type of player, but if you think that he will be, he has to be in consideration. Really good to elite tight ends play well past 30 and make key contributions.
