Will Cam jump ship when contract is up?

This is his first year with a QB coach not named Mike Shula. Norv was hired to develop Cam into a more polished passer and develop a more efficient offense. Shula's offensive design did not protect Cam in any way. Lets see how his development plays out the next two years with some different style of teaching before slamming the door.

Was just about to say the same thing....

ShulaCam era is over.  Run heavy offense centered around Cam?  Yeah, beat up regularly.  CamV2 Turner Boosted with V8 WR core...  jury is still out in my opinion on whether Cam can adjust to being pocket passer for the back 9 of his career.  Who knows, this year could be boom or bust.  I am excited to see Norv offense.

I think he will stay, and it will be the largest contract in league history. Only possibility of him leaving that I can see is if Ryan is done in ATL when it comes time for Cam to resign. Cam still spends most of his time in ATL. That being said, I think Ryan is far from done.

I believe Cam wants to be on a big market team where he can be a bigger star to be honest.  Maybe could make a case to keep him if we would have given him half the weapons that these young qbs get now and days. His left and right tackle was Byron brell and Chandler...

I don’t think moving to a bigger market would make him a bigger star. He is already arguably the most recognizable player in the league. If he does leave, it would be over frustration due to a lack of support. Cam has never disparaged the city or organization in any way, or given any indication he would want to leave.

Quick question, does Cam’s contract run through the 2018, 2019, 2020 seasons? Or does it end after the 2019 season, because the post season of that season doesn’t end until 2020.

Edit, nevermind, just read that it runs through the 2020 season. A lot can happen in 3 seasons. Don’t think we should be worrying about this yet.

No, unless the team doesn't want him around or isn't willing to pay him enough.

Look around the league, how many franchise quarterbacks move to another team when their current team wants them stay?  Not many.  In truth, I can't think of any right now, although I am sure there are one or two.  But its a rarity.

Cousins is the only example I can think of ever.

carson palmer with the bengals was the most recent one i can think of, although that was more like him demanding a trade

Some crazy takes on here. There's absolutely no reason why Cam should want to move or the team would not look to extend Cam with a second multiyear deal.

1. Cam has taken no more punishment than he can handle, he's taken as much as Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers, Big Ben, Andrew Luck etc... AND he can handle it a lot better.

2. Cam is not going to be "finished" at 32, health or ability wise. Unless he as a serious injury, he'll still have a huge arm and more mobility than 90% of QBs in the league.

3. If he reaches another superbowl, or even continues to take us to the playoffs each year, then how on earth are the front office going to justify not extending him, letting him walk and then running around to pick up Jimmy Smallville in the draft to try and replace him? If he regresses, which would be a surprise to pretty much all of us given the change in offensive co-ordinator, then it would take him falling out of the top 10 to even consider letting him walk.

Honestly I understand the question, but no idea how so many people are suggesting it might be time to move on once this deal ends.
