Mason Rudolph

I think Josh Allen is by far the most overrated prospect in this draft. He's the poster boy draft bust. Ideal measurables across the board, but his college stats sucked even at a relatively small program against lower level competition. The guy can't hit the broadside of a barn. I'd take Rudolph over him all day everyday.

A side observation related to this thread: this draft could have a handful of career backups with avg starter ceilings. If we get a kid with upside in need the mid rounds, we get our backup for the time being and could gain great trade value if he flashes. I wouldn’t be shocked if we draft a QB as high as one of our 3rds (highest I’d be comfortable with though)

davos...I realize it would be very nice to grab a great QB of the future in round 3-5 the reality is you can't.  You have to get them early.  I'd pick him right now, but he won't be there.  He will be picked maybe even the Bills very early.  6 QBs in round 1.  IF Jackson goes there...maybe 6.

Ugh...you’re not picking up what I’m putting down. If we think we found a solid backup QB, then why not. I’m not talking “QB of the future”. I’m talking a guy who would be our backup and future trade bait.

davos...who would be your QB on the future next yr?  The Fla State Soph?  There are no QBs next year. If there are tell me who?

Tell me another QB that will be in the draft next season?  Who?

What I am saying here is if we want a true pro QB....Mason is flat out that guy especially at 24 in the draft.  I don't see ANY QBs coming down the pike...and if we wait 2 yrs we could be dead.

The whole conversation rests on how the coaches feel about Cam and how Cam feels about the NFL

Obviously, if Cam ends up signing another 5 year deal in a couple seasons, then there is nothing to see here, but, if new ownership decides to go a new direction, then Cam might be on his last deal here.  Not sure Norv, Hurney, nor Ron will have a say in all that.

I feel like the guys pulling the strings on the draft this year will not pick a QB in the first round just because a new owner might not want to buy into a full blown QB controversy right off the bat.

My gut tells me we won't touch a QB with any of our picks

It's hilarious how bent out of shape that guy gets anytime anyone disagrees with him on anything.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
