agree. another half a second and the ball would've been in smith's hands, and the hit would have been absolutely beautiful, probably would've caused a turnover. unfortunate timing on dante's part... i think he was trying to make a big play and just miscalculated. he gambled, lost, and paid for it.

now gtf over it. we got the bills up next

The timing wouldn't have mattered, the ball was over to the right of the returner and nearly out of bounds. He was acting like he was about to catch it just like every other returner in the league does. So it still would've been a penalty for launching into a defenseless receiver.

Your a fuken joke.

to the ones who think it was a legal hit cause Smith didn't call fair catch... You have got to be the Dumbest mother fukers to ever walk gods green earth; furthermore, you are the reason why panther fans are looked upon as the dumbest fan base.

To the rest of you who think it was a cheap shot... nice win, your team played well. what can i say the better team won?

stay classy bucman

Take it easy big guy. I never said anything about it being a legal hit or anything close to that. I said it wouldn't have been so bad if Smith didn't lay on the ground as if he was dead.

Take a breather, Smith is going to be fine.

Except in this instance, it wasn't helmet to helmet. It was a cheap shot where he launched himself into a defenseless receiver. But he was ejected for thowing a punch after the play. I heard the ref say it clearly. Ray Lewis got penalised for launching himself into a defenseless receiver last week but wasn't thrown out for it.

seemed like helmet to helmet to me.

Oh well don't care anymore. My opinion is the ref made the right call but could have thrown a flag on Tampa too. And Wesley will get $25,000 fine probably no suspension

i agree 100%, i'm arguing whether it was dirty or not. "dirty" is contingent on intentions, IMO. what we're figuring out was whether it was done with the intent of jacking smith up, or with making a big play (and mis-timing it.)

No it was for the hit. Refs were instructed starting in 2008 to automatically eject players for helmet to helmet hits.

Dirtiest hit in the NFL this year even if it was just a mistake by D, Wesley.

I don't fault him for playing hard. You can't condition players to go mental every play and not expect the odd personal foul.

But not sure how anyone could argue that is was "clean"[/QUOTE]

You would be right but there was no Helmet to Helmet. He threw his shoulder into him......

new rule: no hitting Bucs with your shoulder, they will pretend they're dead and have their thug bench try to start fights.

each team will have to petition the league every play to call their players down without contact so they don't get offended.
