Why would they do that...?

There was a leaked report last week about how he didn’t fit Nagy’s style of offense due to his poor performance in the passing game.

i can’t rmemeber which analyst threw it out there but he said we would be a team who could target him.

i think he will end up with the patriots or buccaneers though.

Howard would be a good fit here and on 90% of the teams in the NFL. Bears certainly aren’t one of the more stable and better run franchises in the NFL and getting rid of an up and comer with some skills for jackshit has been their MO recently. It worked out well for Alshon Jeffrey.

Rule of Thumb: When a team is making what looks like a bad move, ask why.

Maybe it's genuine dumbassery (Olsen, for example) but it often turns out that teams aren't as dumb as you might think.

Always be certain.

This one makes sense and it’s all about scheme fit with their new HC. Howard is a pure power between the tackles running back who’s terrible in the receiving game. Nagy prefers backs who have versatility and can be used in the run and pass game. Howard being on the block has been discussed throughout the league at length since Nagy was hired.

Bears new coach likes backs who can catch. That happens to be Howards biggest weakness.

And to be honest, we're probably looking for the same.

Nagy runs a WCO. A back who's weak in the passing game is a big "hell no" to that kind of scheme.

We're not running West Coast, but yeah, Norv does like to throw to his backs.

Could still be worth a look, but with that in his profile I'd stop short of saying "no brainer".

Two key things at play IMO:

1. as someone mentioned he's not a great receiver

2. They have lots of holes and gave up picks to move up last year (no 3rd or 4th this year).  Deep RB draft and probably think they are still a few years aware and thus Howard is expendable.
