I eat brown rice and whole wheat pasta pretty often. As long as the whole grain is included in the product, it's good for you. White rice is basically sugar.

Complex carbs...not those McDs carbs

I’ve gone carnivore and feel amazing. Noticeable gains in the gym, no GI issues, BP is down to 110/65...

Do you mean omnivore?   If you are eating as a carnivore I highly doubt you are healthy at all.

If you are serious about being on a carnivore diet long term - I will say it was nice knowing you.  You are going to die an early death and it will be your own fault.

Even the inuit people who ate almost only meat (lots of raw, and hoofs, bones, guts - which I doubt you are including at levels needed if at all) ate the contents of their kills stomachs which mainly contained vegetable content.

Any move away from processed foods to whole real foods will give you great health benefits especially short term.   A long term switch like that will have major long term effects unless you are eating a lot of raw liver and lots of the animal parts americans usually dont touch.

Cooked liver a couple times per week.

Yeah - good luck as you arent even eating in a method which people who are able to live on the diet do.  A little bit of cooked liver a week aint going to do poo for what you need.

Probably not long until scurvy:

--

Vitamin C and the Inuit people:  Raw caribou liver supplied almost 24 milligrams, seal brain close to 15 milligrams, and raw kelp more than 28 milligrams. Still higher levels were found in whale skin and muktuk. Thick skinned, chewy, and collagen rich, raw muktuk can serve up an impressive 36 milligrams in a 100-gram piece, according to Fediuk’s analyses. “Weight for weight, it’s as good as orange juice,” she says.

-

If you plan to eat that crap diet long term you will see further effects and die early.  Have fun.

Lol. I’ll let the people who have done this for decades know. Check out Dr. Shawn Baker.

LOL

Ohh okay - so just ignore what an entire people ate like to live a carnivore based diet because Shawn does not eat liver.

You can live on it - if you eat like the inuit.  You are not doing that - you are half assing yourself to a very poor diet.

According to the research I’ve done I respectfully disagree. For me this is a N=1 experiment and not a long term thing. How everyone my initial goal was 30 days but I like it so much I’ll probably carry over to 180 and have labs drawn at that point. Shawn Baker can explain why neither scurvy nor vitamin C are concerns.

Everyone told me the same when I went Keto 2 years ago and that has been nothing but a tremendous blessing and now it’s gaining the attention of the mainstream.

I don’t toy with my health for sport, I Research and plan.

Yes you Joe Rogan'd the heck out of this.

Research clearly points to the full list of foods needed to live a long term health life on a carnivore diet.  You appear to not even be close.  But you stated this is short term - so probably fine, great you get by food restriction you cut calories and lay off processed and actually become healthier.  Congrats on that.

Decades of doing what you are doing will give you long term issues to worry about, unless you go full Inuit.

And I am not being a hater just to be a hater.  I am very aware that there is benefits especially to obese or diabetic people of a keto diet but all evidence shows us that those benefits come from restricting out processed foods and/or calorie reductions. You get the same results in other diets.

You then have to throw out decades and decades of long term research on meat consumption and heart disease and cancer without having decades long research of a keto diet to negate those studies.  Sure we can see the benefits on mainly obsese people over short terms - but there is no long running trial to show that the cancer risks or heart risk dont appear when on the diet for long term.

What pisses me off with this "fad" diet is the wastefulness of our planets resources.  To produce meat for basically an all meat diet takes a lot more from our planet then plant based diets that we know work long term.   Then you got these jackasses who arent even consuming whole animals like the Inuit making it even more wasteful.  Dude if you are going to strain the planet so you can eat steak every night at least have the courtesy (and health benefit) from consuming as much of the animal as you can.  Show some respect to your fellow humans.

It’s not calorie restriction though, I still get between 3500-4000 k/cal per day. Cutting out the processed crap is one of the goals but the driver was to get as close to zero carb as possible. That’s why I’m losing weight and getting healthier, not calories.

I’ve  read, watched and listened to far more than just the Joe Rogan podcast but that did serve as my intro. There are plenty of resources out there if you’re willing to look for them. I don’t think it’s coincidence that I feel as good as I do on meat only. I’m trying to cut out cheese, not necessarily all dairy as I still put HWC in my coffee. I’m trying to drive my cholesterol and testosterone up as I try to add lean mass. I started with a modifier Atkins, learned about and went Keto for about two years and am now experimenting with carnivore. I’ll eventually add some cruciferous vegetables back for their micronutrient composition and the effects on cognition but I’ve seen firsthand how much better I feel with zero plant based foods. I’ll orobably cycle through Keto and carnivore and LCHF based on seasonal availability of plants, but fructose causes me issues so I’ll have to be very wary of the quantity consumed.

Dr. Jason Fung dives pretty deep into fructose and it’s downside in The Diabetes Code, which is a good read...or listen in my case. Trying to make the best of my time back in a truck.
