rice is stupid, unless that's your only carb and sugar. same with pasta, and bread,  and potatoes...

I eat brown rice and whole wheat pasta pretty often. As long as the whole grain is included in the product, it's good for you. White rice is basically sugar.

Not all cereals are bowls of sugar glazed flakes dusted with candy & marshmallows.

There are a good amount of sprouted whole grain & millet versions of cereals on the market that contain less than 1g of sugar per serving at around 150-200 Cal ( Millet contains even less)

DIY- You can prep a large batch of Hulled Millet for the week, then each morning portion it out and top with seasonal fruit, for a breakfast porridge, hot or cold.

Lentils?

They have a great nutritional profile and are extremely versatile.

White rice in moderate amounts, helps those who have digestive issues.  Brown rice has more health value, but is harder to digest, especially for elderly people.

tbh for carbs, I'd rather eat a baked potato over rice, any rice and pasta.

I love pasta of just about every kind, but avoid it for the most part.  Baked potatoes have no appeal to me.  But I do like a baked sweet potato.  I usually eat it plain, but with cinnamon and little bit of butter, it becomes excellent.
