Patriots trade Brandon Cooks to the LA Rams for their 2018 1st and 6th round picks

I know McVay worked wonders last year, but he's basically still a kid coaching.  And now he's going to deal with what, 10 Pro Bowl caliber guys, immediate past or present there, and some of the biggest egos in the NFL?  Feels a lot like this team is either going to the Super Bowl, or crashes and burns after Talib and Peters kill a guy in practice.

Also, poor Goff.  Cap hell and mass turnover might be coming to LA right as he's due his 2nd contract...when QB salaries will probably account for 25% of the team's cap and they won't be able to afford him any help.

The Rams have a lot of talent on the roster. But their GM is going bat shyt crazy this offseason. I could see it maybe if they were debuting in their new multi billion dollar stadium but they'll play this year in in the shythole that is the LA Coliseum. By the time they finally occupy their new stadium me thinks they will regret this offseason in a big way.

This will be 2 years in a row the Rams haven't added a 1st round talent with a cap friendly contract to their roster.

If the Pats go QB this could get interesting real quick.  Brady considering retirement in the next few years?

Also, the Pats still have a decent WR corps and werent giving Cooks a big deal after next yr so good move there.

The Rams will have some big contracts coming up so Cooks might end up a 1 yr rental.

Good for the Rams.

Pats are probably moving up for a QB if one of them falls.

Unlike the Panthers, both the Rams and Pats have solid coaching staffs and front offices. You guys don't need to worry about what the Rams gave up. The Rams will be extending Cooks shortly.

I think Pats will just keep all those picks and select the best players available.

Everyone is thinking they are trading up for a QB - Pats never do what we think they will do, they are always one step ahead.

Panthers need to get Cam OBJ and stop bullshittin

Then again David wouldn't even think about trading him to us.

He would gladly fleece us. Who ever trades for him will get fuged in every office repeatedly.

Pats doin what they do....cool, calm and calculated...not this Hurney BS people are lauding...course it helps when you have the best QB in the history of the league.

I'd be totally surprised if The Pats move up for a QB. And if they did then I'd say the end is nigh.

What a bad, short-sighted trade.  I guess if they win a Super Bowl it won't matter, but that is a lot of egos in 1 locker-room.  Especially since they weren't on the team last year.  Plus, Cooks is on the last year of his deal and considering he will be the top 2019 FA WR (Beckham ain't hitting the market), there is no way they will be able to re-sign him.

Rams are all in on this win now mode. If (and that’s a huge if) they start to gel they are going to be tough to beat...

Rams are getting into win now mode.  Much like the Broncos did.  Worked out well for Denver, we will see if it works for LA.

Word is that the Rams are going all in because they need to sell PSLs for their new stadium.

A great player who's good in the locker room and on the field just doesn't get traded like that, particularly on his rookie contract.  Yet Cooks has been traded away twice.  Makes you wonder what he's doing that we don't know about.

And for whoever said they wished Hurney would accumulate picks like the Patriots, that's more his style as well. Gettleman liked to bundle picks and trade up for specific players, but in his first go-around Hurney traded back for more opportunities far more than he traded up.  Granted, when you're drafting Tim Shaw and Hilee Taylor and Nick Hayden late, it doesn't matter how many picks you have.
