Patriots trade Brandon Cooks to the LA Rams for their 2018 1st and 6th round picks

Its kinda not panthers related but its the offseason? Now the Rams had the 23rd pick , we pick 24th, but now the Patriots have the 23rd pick and the 31st pick. I think it is related to us, because its likely the Patriots may draft someone else that the Rams might not have drafted at the slot right before ours and could greatly affect who we pick.

What do you think about that trade? The Rams are continuing to go for broke signing all these free agents, are they trying to emulate the Eagles? They signed Marcus Peters, Aqub Talib,  N.Suh , and now Brandon Cooks. But I guess they did lose Sammy Watkins.

What a bad, short-sighted trade.  I guess if they win a Super Bowl it won't matter, but that is a lot of egos in 1 locker-room.  Especially since they weren't on the team last year.  Plus, Cooks is on the last year of his deal and considering he will be the top 2019 FA WR (Beckham ain't hitting the market), there is no way they will be able to re-sign him.

Good trade for the Pats. I think Cooks is a good receiver, but getting a 1st and a 6th for him is good. I think the Pats go LT with that 1st round pick.

And Jared Goff and Sean McVay dont seem to have a super commanding personality to manage all these alpha dogs .. they'll have to hope they are well behaved I suppose

Have a feeling Pats will trade both of their 1st round picks for Odell

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Patriots' trade of Brandin Cooks to the Rams is "not a precursor to an attempt" to acquire Odell Beckham.

The Patriots now own the No. 23 and 31 picks, leading many to connect the dots on Twitter. The Patriots still have a solid stable of weapons, but many injury question marks. Beckham would be a dream addition for Tom Brady and Bill Belichick's offense, but the most likely outcome remains him staying in New York.

    • Morgan has been advertising a trade on Ebay and Marketplace on FB.  That tells me they are not sold on Walker.  I think you are right--Emmanwori is their target, but after Morgan's rookie year as a GM and XL blabbing what he was told (I would assume that this is one of the reasons you never tell a prospect you will draft him) I am assuming that embarrassed Morgan to some degree--and it may have hurt his credibility.  Remember, he has to negotiate with players, agents, and GMs--so I am guessing that this year, he will be keeping it close to the vest.  I do not understand the Panthers skipping a pro day and then drafting a player when it was right down I 85.  It don't smell none to good.  I think it makes more sense that they have discounted both players.  About the Walker rumor--they have looked at him twice, I believe.  Fuel for the fire. His dad coached at Catawba as an assistant, Coastal Carolina, and got the head coach job at Catawba--a local boy, and the Panthers have a history of drafting local players recently (Ickey, Horn, for example).  If one or two people get on that train, it is often repeated and whipped into a rumor.  I think they could draft a WR (Golden is my guess).  To me, the empty safety spot is glaring--we did not sign blackmon and he remains unsigned.  Curious.  Morgan's comments about the WR room being good--curious.  And then there is Moton and his knee.   I have heard that we could draft an OT (if BPA) and possibly trade Moton--that was on a Panther podcast.  Did something happen in that development that caused the Panthers to change directions, skipping the UGA pro day?  Hmmmm. I will say this:  I think the Panthers really like Princely.   We shall see.  But Chris SImms pissed me off when he bashed Walker, but his points were valid--not his assessment.
    • For sure I just think he is Uber talented and teams know it.   If he's there at 57 is a no brainer I just don't think it's going to be an option
    • Williams would be an Edge for us. We only have Wonnum and Clowney one more year.
