Godfrey is a liability

It seems like any time there is miscommunication in the defensive backfield it's because Godfrey wasn't where he was supposed to be. As a last line defender, he should know how to tackle as well. He's a very poor safety.

Godfrey has done fine since Harris came back. He's going to be a solid player for us for a while.

He hasn't been exposed as bad the past two weeks....but he hasn't looked any better. The guys around him are making plays. He is still a step late and makes zero plays even when arrives in a position to.....which is rare.

He has never played solid nor has the skill set for an NFL saftey...not sure what leads anyone to believe he will be a solid player for us for a long period.

So much hate. Safeties have to be the smartest players on D and he's only 2 years in with 2 different schemes. He's done fine with Harris playing.

The same thing I said but people need to blame someone.

i don't have a problem with him being out of place....

the fact that he's scared of contact and can't tackle anybody is what ticks me off

He was a converted CB. FS are never your enforcers on Defense. There more your ball hawks. Tackling will always improve when a player feels comfortable in his system. Brayton sucked at Tackling when he got here and now he is a solid tackler.

some of you guys bash fox for playing godfrey then bash him for not playing jarrett

you can't have it both ways, either you throw the player who shows no potential out there and see if he develops or you leave him on the bench/release him. last year was godfrey's first and this year we had no money to sign a quality free safety.

give it time; he'll get better or be replaced

ok, so you don't expect him to be a good tackler. I can accept that not to be his strength....he is a poor tackler and through 21 games has shown zero improvement.

He has shown no indication of having any traits of a socalled "ballhawk" in any of those 21 games either.

Godfrey is not a scapegoat and people are not putting pointless blame on him....he just isn't any good. That happens....even in Carolina.

He's constantly out of position, he can't cover, he cant tackle. He's worthless.

With Harris back, his coverage has been stellar (I'm guessing Harris sets coverages) and I haven't seen him out of position this year. We give up some of the fewest big pass plays in the league so I really have no idea what you're going on about with that.

No he's not a sure tackler and that has to improve, but your criticisms are baseless on the first two.

teams haven't even tried to test the secondary this year to see there coverage ability.....teams leaving you alone or not being capable to test you doesn't mean you are good.

Godfrey has done nothing the past 2 weeks to indicate improved play....others around him are playing much better....there is nothing he has shown to suggest improvement.

If QB's aren't throwing it deep it means the secondary is doing a good job. Almost all passes against us are short, underneath routes and nothing more. It's not as if we've been going up against scrub passing offenses all year either.

If Godfrey was so bad, especially given the system we run, opposing QB's would be making it rain all day to his side of the field and that just hasn't been happening.
