Of course I'd like to see a change. This isn't a "boys will be boys" argument for entertainment it's just the nature of the business. How do you go about making a change in culture like that? The demand for the jobs wont change. People will always want fame and fortune. If you have suggestions on how to overhaul the entertainment industry I'd love to hear them. Maybe one day I'd go back.

I don’t know much about the entertainment industry, so I don’t think I’d be able to offer much. One suggestion I would make is to just listen, though. There’s no reason those young ladies should go through the hurdles they’re going through, especially for the pay they receive.

I just don’t believe they should be blown off and I don’t believe we should act like their issues aren’t a big deal.

the cheerleading squad could be filled with a bunch of white men

they still wouldnt be paid for poo and no one would care about them. its not a race/ gender issue. they arent being treated like poo because they are women. they are being treated like what they are worth to the grand scheme of things to the panthers.. and that is very little

i think genger equality is important but should be applied to things that are legitimate

if you piss and moan over everything when its not even legit, you lose momentum for the real cause.

and if you think people have the wrong mindset and are closeminded, the last thing you wana do is come in and be all morally superior and throw insults

to me that pretty hypocritical because some claim "its this way because these stupid people act this way"

sorry people, but your approach is god awful. theres no wonder there is so much tension

there would be a lot more understanding and compassion and willingness to work and improve things if there was better communication between the groups

wagging the finger doesnt do poo and IS PART OF THE PROBLEM

Are you sure the Huddle is "largely hostile"? Or are they just yelling louder than everyone else. For the most part this thread has good points from both sides. Also OP while bringing up a good point has been the most hostile contributor in this thread. Not defending the jackasses just playing devil's advocate.

How have I been the most hostile?

I am absolutely sure it is largely hostile. I also do not blame the OP for being defensive or lacking patience in an environment like this.

Not to sound like a jerkface but this is hardly a women's issue. Also I believe there are male cheerleaders in the NFL. I wonder if they're paid differently than the women. I'm not blowing them off and I've already said they deserve to be paid more. The average cheerleader makes $1000 a year. That's ridiculous, but it's also not a full time job.

this message board has been largely hostile towards the perspectives of women at numerous times while I've been a member. I've noticed it, and to my detriment I've not really made much of an effort to confront it, mostly out of despair and a lack of desire to bicker online more than absolutely necessary. gonna try to act differently in this situation and say it's absurd and many posters in this thread should be ashamed of themselves.

it's not at all surprising that a discussion about the workplace environment for cheerleaders has simultaneously devolved into garbage while that garbage has been laid at the feet of the woman brave enough to post about it in the first place. I'm just sorry that she has to put up with this crap. I don't stand for it at all and welcome perspective from her. also, she's absolutely correct about the ridiculousness of the excerpts she posted. and good on her for bringing it up.

I don't believe anyone personally attacked the OP. Fair counter points were made, and the OP did not reply well. Calling people names opened up this thread to become rather "hostile" in your words.

The workplace did not devolve- its also been that way. If anything it has gotten better over the years due to the law suits. To claim that it is brave is stating that the job in itself is a solitude of unsatisfactory working conditions, but from interviews of current and previous employees they love it and enjoyed it.

Some former cheerleaders have been screwed, but they had their lawsuits and got their wins. I am not going to spend a second acting like this is the only industry garnished wages are a thing.

Again, it is fair to agree with the waterbreak rules and not being able to wear particular clothing  are simple rules to follow, and do not restrict any gender or intrude on any rights.

I can understand why she’s being hostile. If I was a woman on this board, I’d be hostile as well. Also, when feeling ignored and feeling like the issues that you’re bringing forth aren’t being taken seriously, I can understand how that would breed hostility as well.

Let's be real here. This a football forum mostly frequented by men. How much sympathy did you expect. Especially when most male football fans see cheerleaders as eye candy anyway.

When she condemns other contributors like @TheCasillas for being "idiots" I can absolutely blame her. Especially when he's trying to have a constructive conversation. Subject matter doesn't excuse emotional behavior.

I'm not saying the Huddle doesn't have its trolls and jackassess but I don't believe it's a large group of contributors.  Like I said they just shout louder for attention.

I think someone said in this thread "know you audience" and calling your audience "idiots" will not work in your favor. Most likely the catalyst of escalation.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
