Well....the Patriots just traded Brandin Cooks to the Rams and obtained a 1st round pick.

I wonder if OBJ to the Patriots could be in play especially if they also trade Gronk

Yup, I'm pretty sure this is going to happen, it all makes sense.    I don't think Pats trade Cooks unless they have someone better coming in.

Reality is no one seriously expects the Giants to compete for the SB in the next few years.

OBJ remaining a Giant isn't going to change that reality.

Bottom Line: A drama queen that expects to be paid like a franchise QB is a luxury that the NY Giants don't need and can't afford.  The team has too many other areas in need of attention.

Here's the reality about Gettle"man" - he can't stand a strong personality or any challenge to his ego. He only likes golden retriever types. Anyone who doesn't fit the mold has to go, regardless of talent. We've seen it over and over.

All that aside, he’s more concerned with “bang for your buck”...so even if OBJ was a choir boy, he’d never entertain $18mill a year

I think that deal makes an OBJ trade more unlikely. Not only did it take the Rams off the WR trade market, but it also means a lesser WR has already gone for a 1st round pick putting pressure on the Giants to get a significantly better deal... with the team that was offering them a 1st having already traded that pick away for a different WR.

Ehh I dunno...it wasn’t simply a 1st for Cooks

It was:

Cooks + 4th rounder

for

1st + 6th rounder

If a team like the Ravens offered their 1st for OBJ, that’d be better than what the Pats received for Cooks. Yet it’d still be a reasonable offer

In reality, tho, nobody expected them to win the SB in the last several years. But it wasn't with divas, it was lunch pail guys.
