Hell yeah. If we think he can potentially play SS I'm not opposed to taking him in the 3rd because I don't think he's lasting until our 5th.

Someone will draft him before we get a chance.  He’s extremely athletic, we just have glaring holes that need to be addressed before we can take luxury picks.

One of those holes being safety. He wouldn't be a day one starter but most 3rd rounders aren't. He'd be a great understudy behind Adams for a year amd shpuld be an impact special teamer right out of the gate.

He's got plenty of athletic ability, but can he cover well enough to play safety? Obviously he has the speed with a 4.3 40 at the Combine, but was he asked to cover much at UCF?

In any event, I wouldn't be against taking him at all, but I have all ideas he'll be gone before we pick in the 5th round and I can't see us taking him in the 3rd unless we do view him as a safety.

One things for sure; if he can play safety then having both him and Shaq Thompson on the field together would give us a ton of flexibility on defense as far as disguising coverages.

The reason I think that he may actually be better suited at SS in the NFL is because in the games I watched of his he was at his best playing in space. When blockers got their hands on him, they usually won. That'll be a problem at the NFL level as a LB. But, I could see teams looking at how the Cardinals use Deone Bucannon and basically trying to use that as a blueprint for Griffin.

Who knows? He got a combine invite and they usually don't offer invites unless they think you're going 1st or 2nd round, but maybe they're making an exception for Griffin. I'm thinking 3rd or 4th.

Speaking of Deone Bucannon, he's going into the last season of his rookie contract and has struggled with injuries the last two years. It wouldn't shock me to see the Cardinals draft Griffin as his replacement.

he didnt originally get an invite, he only got one after his play in the Senior Bowl I think.

You're right about the combine invite.

Sorry, no clue why I typed "combine invite". I meant draft invite. Usually players don't receive an official invitation to the draft unless it's thought that they're going to be high picks, but like I said, they may be making an exception for Griffin for the storyline.

Ive come around to being ok with drafting him

 

but, im pretty sure they invited him bevause of the storyline and buzz generation he creates
