i will now do something that i shouldn't have to do and painstakingly explain the point i was making:

the panthers run of recent success is much more complex and multifaceted than "hur dur cam and luke" as is posted ten million times every day on this site.  of course they're absolutely crucial, but a team of cam and luke and 51 tackling dummies probably couldn't go 15-1 or make the playoffs or even have a winning record.  this notion is further solidified by the fact that rosters with cam, luke, and other professional football players have actually posted losing seasons.  i made a hyperbolic remark about matt millen and rich kotite.  no poo matt millen would have probably won more games if he had cam in detroit but i strongly doubt they would have put up a winning record over the same timeframe because matt millen is a lot fuging worse than dave gettleman, and it's not a debate.  the two all pro offensive linemen and 3x pro bowler gettleman has either drafted or brought in as UDFAs probably didn't hurt, for one example.

Nothing you posted is new information. As I have stated before, Gettleman did well by finding a few role players, but an experienced Cam and Luke were the biggest reasons for the success. We weren’t going to SB 50 with a qb like Matt Moore starting.

Weird how that experience only helped for one season.

Apparently their next two years of experience made them not as good.

Isn't it interesting how in one breath someone can explain how inheriting two cornerstone players in Cam and Luke in their primes isn't actually that important, yet in another breath they will tirelessly rationalize that it's not actually a bad thing to throw a first rounder at a bench warming DT following a Super Bowl appearance while the offensive line falls right off a cliff and the franchise QB has his brain rearranged?

Also, these fans are anything but pro player. If it comes down to a player or an executive like their favorite former GM, they will throw any Panthers player past or present right under the bus as a washed up greedy spoiled diva crybaby who should just be happy they get paid at all. Does that sound familiar? Well if it does that's because it is barely discernible from the sort of rhetoric from NFL fans that get upset about players *gasp*..kneeling.

The Gettleman versus hurney stuff gets old. They both have issues.. Gettleman was better, but we need better than both of them. Hopefully the new owner is smart and kicks hurney to the curb as his first order of business
