Well, this thread went to hell in a hand basket.

Well, the idea is to do updates on the sale. If people can stay on that topic, we're good.

To anybody who wants to defend Jerry Richardson's virtue, start a different thread or do it somewhere else.

Some not all defended his virtue.  I am not one of those people.  I simply believe that broken non disclosures and a good journalist finding out about settlements isn't enough of a nail in the coffin as you or others seem to think.  He seems very creepy to me and I bet there is truth behind it but we probably won't hear those truths because they are legally bound to silence.

I think that if every NFL owner had his settlements that had non disclosures revealed we would be looking for 5-10 new owners.  This is a combination of good timing for JR and bad timing for JR.  He wants to sell and now should probably sell to protect the league and his reputation.  The league is just trying to look good.  If JR was a younger version of himself 15 years ago I would bet that this would be handled differently and we would be hearing different tunes.  JR is as loyal of a NFL shield supporter as possible, he is happy to back out so it doesn't blemish them and probably doesn't mind some rhetoric on their part to protect themselves.

As for the sale JR hired a firm to handle the asset sale.  Yes he has final say over the sale price and term but if he balks at a 1-5% price point after the process to a good bidder, the league and his co investors will probably have right and reason to bring suit and force a sale of some sort.  He won't do that.  He is done.

Yeah. The sale is gonna happen, and we'll probably hear to whom within the next few weeks.

All the money's been on Tepper to date, but it's starting to sound like Navarro might have a real shot.

Of course, the NFL may try to nudge Tepper to up his offer.

There is a difference between defending his virtue and pointing out that opinions aren't facts. It's more than a little strange that someone always takes whatever info is posted about the team ownership and starts a new thread about it in order to get the early spin on everything going.

Yeah, it's really strange when someone posts news stories about the team sale on a discussion board and...discusses it.

Even stranger when people whine about it.

From my experiences, the first potential buyer of a business to have visited that business during the bidding process tends to be the buyer. That may not mean Kestenbaum will be the new owner but it's not something to ignore, either

It is interesting.  I am surprised it wasn't Navarro or Tepper.  It almost seems like Kestenbaum is warming up to this process very late but can't be ignored.  If I was even a 1% chance of a bidder for a team I would be visiting the stadium endlessly.

Wouldn't put too much stock in it honestly. Could be as simple as who had time available in their schedule.

Breer still characterizes Kestenbaum's bid as "fringe", and since he's reporting from the owners meetings, he'd be in a good spot to gauge the chatter. Kestenbaum obviously has a shot, but it sounds like he has a fair amount of catching up to do (and there's not an awful lot of time left to do that).

Tepper and Navarro are still the lead dogs at this point, and the fact that the NFL is starting to vet Navarro could be significant. No mention anywhere of the league starting that process with anyone else so far. Tepper doesn't need to be vetted because he's already a part owner.

I've previously said I thought it would be Tepper easily, but a lot of the latest reports make me think Navarro wants it more badly than Tepper does. I guess we'll see how that plays out in the next few weeks.

Definitely looks like the process will be more competitive than we expected.
