Maybe a stupid question but what if none of the buyers come to terms?

Jerry would keep for the foreseeable future and just listed for sale?

can the league force him to take a certain price?

Just curious.

No. They aren't forcing him to sell.

j person has a current article in which he starts by saying mcnair's comments were "awkward & insensitive" & then goes on to ask why the NFL investigation of JR is not giving out an "exhaustive" accounting of who they spoke with and where they are

it is becoming apparent that nobody important cares one bit about any allegations against JR except the our putz crackpot Panther reporters and likely "victims" who were "wronged"

Albert Breer is actually at the NFL owners meetings. He reported that the league very much wants this "ugly matter" to go away.

So yes, somebody important does care. And believe it or not the people who Richardson harassed actually do matter.

One outspoken owner doesn’t represent the rest of the league...

I’m sure they’re dying for a new owner who actually shows up to meetings

Well trying to force someone out using an excuse that seems to not be holding up seems pretty wrong to me.

if I was Jerry I would hold fast on my price and not budge, and then keep the team. FU to all the a-holes out there that are worst public enemies but no one is forcing them out.

There will be a buyer and a back up buyer or two.  If he really wants to sell the team he will take a lower bidder if a higher bidder falls out.  There has never been any indication the NFL can and would ever force an owner to sell a team.  JRs situation is pretty grimy to us in the Carolinas but falls well short of many problems many sports owners have had and not sold the team.  The only reason the punchline "will the NFL make him sell the team" is thrown around is 1) Sterling had to do it (very messy public problem and not the same by a mile to JR) and 2) JR is actually selling the team because its time and he can be in control of the sale.  Not much to see here.

If no buyer is interested then sale pends and JR gets his NFL slap on the wrist while remaining the owner.  Honestly its going to be tough to get much out of a mutual non disclosure and pin actual crimes to JR beyond a fine.  I don't remember the details but I have a feeling the original leak will be the most we hear about it.  Goodell just said today that he hasn't heard about the investigation recently and there is no time table.

Yeah, Richardson keeping the team is not gonna happen.

It's been confirmed more than once that the league does indeed have the power to force an owner to sell their team. That isn't necessary here because Richardson volunteered. But if they needed to "nudge" him, yes they could.

McNair was asked about the possibility of Richardson pulling back from the sale and confirmed that's  not happening. Breer also made clear that the league wants this story to go away. Between Ray Rice, Josh Brown and other stories, they've taken some major PR hits lately. They don't need any more.

Funny because no one seems to want him out on the allegations, they just want a new owner and use this as an excuse.

at the end of the day he will get his 2.6 billion and get the last laugh or no one will pay his price and he gets the last laugh.

But they can’t force an owner to take any certain price. So if the buyers can’t or won’t then it won’t happen.

im kinda rooting for Jerry because up until now it’s allegations.

Again, not happening.

Nobody here has any inside information from NFL owners. The people who do say this incident is a black eye to the league and the sale is gonna be concluded very soon.

Yeah, I'm sure all those evil lying b--ches just got together and made all their stories up. The guy he used a racial slur with probably just misunderstood him.

As someone with legal knowledge explained a while back, an NFL team is a franchise, not an independent entity. Personal conduct policies apply to owners too. And no, Richardson can't just continually say "I want more money" to put it off.

The team will have a new owner by the end of May.

“The people who do say” are who exactly?

“The people who do say” have no say so,...

and are nobodies. That includes everyone here.

If only because Jerry has not fault the issue. He could easily bring up incident after incident of other franchises and nothing was done about them.

you don’t know anything more than anyone else.

If jerry had any fight in him left he would easily beat them down and not have to sell anything.

this has nothing to do with the allegations, it’s simply an excuse to force an old guy out.

Sharks always do that.

Like they did Tom Benson?

Nobody is trying to force Richardson out. He's out because he's a creepy old letch. That may be because age has affected his brain, but it doesn't really matter. The result is the same.

Nobody did this to him. He did it to himself.
