That seemed to make things clearer and easier to define.

It'll get screwed up somehow.

bad and biased refs will still continue to be bad and biased and they'll still find ways to affect the outcome of games. they'll still leave this open to interpretation and will question what a football move is. they'll still make bad calls, be challenged, and then continue to be the ones reviewing their own calls with the same loop holes and they'll still be unchallenged on penalty calls.

until all calls are challengeable and teams can appeal to an outside source mid game, bad refs will be the ones with all the power.

What happens to "the ground can not create a fumble" rule? If the receiver goes down without being touched down after a newly defined catch and the ball pops out, it's all still subject to interpretation .... and possible instant replay.

Speaking of rules, if they change PI to a 15 yard penalty instead of a spot foul, defensive backs are gonna be climbing all over speedsters down the field. They'll take 15 yards instead of 30, 40 all day long. I don't like that change at all.

When you look too closely at something it disappears. It's like saying a word over and over until it's meaning vanishes and you see its arbitrary nature.

That's what had happened with defining a catch.

yeah, I've heard that about certain words....

Did you watch the video?  They address that exact situation.  It's not subject to interpretation, it's a fumble.

I like it and seems simple enough...BUT I was always under the impression that the ground CANNOT cause a fumble.  Same way as the ground can't assist in the catch.

So I guess that is no longer true.  There are gonna be a lot more fumbles.
