Evidently they know better than the experts, and ignored CMC's best runs....which came between the tackles.

Am I just evaluating his role on our team or comparing him to the NFL in general in terms of the best rookies /players at his position?

Just for his specific role on our team, Id say 8/10. He got an incredible amount of our first downs and got way more receptions than our leading WR , and just as many touchdowns as our leading WR. He was lacking the big play ability for most of the season but Im willing to bet alot of that was Stewart and Shula messing up his chance to get into a rythm/be used more effectively. Like I already mentioned, he tied with Funchess to lead the team in most touchdowns scored (non QB) . Christian had the most yards from scrimmage and the most all purpose yards on the entire team as a rookie. His running ability left more to be desired for the first half of the season, but he ran much better in the 2nd half of the season and averaged over 4 yards per carry in that timeframe. His receiving ability was undeniable and seeing what he did for us in the playoff game vs NO , the Miami game, and the Green Bay game seemed like glimpses into a bright future to me.

In terms of comparing him in general to all the top shelf great RBs? I have to admit he was no where near that level, especially running the ball. It really depends on if you are comparing just his running ability or his pass catching  and reliably converting the chains . He usually doesnt do fancy explosive work but he was extremely important to our offense last year. Im thinking he could florish much more in his 2nd year with  a much better OC and no aging vet RB stealing his carries. I reasonably expect him to put on about 5-10 lbs of muscle before the season starts too, get to about 212 or 215 which is right around what Hunt and Kamara weighed last year. 

This is the best highlight real I could find . Good variety of games and plays from the entire season, some excellent runs too when he had the blocking.

In terms of the offensive skill position guys taken in the first round of the 2017 draft, his only real competiiton in terms of rookie production are Leonard Forunette (RB Jags) and Evan Engram (TE, Giants). 

Id say CMC easily gets 2nd place. You cant deny Leonard was pretty important to powering the Jags offense and letting Bortles get great plays off hard play action played a substantial role of getting them to the AFC CG.

Not counting draft position? 6/10. Guess for next year? 7.5/10 if he’s actually allowed to be the back

 

counting where he was selected? 5/10 not worth top 10 selection with consensus best cb in the draft sitting there

He's a great weapon but the lack of big plays makes it seem like he's not. Some of his best plays were 4 yard catches on 3rd and 3.

7/10 for 2017 and he appeared to get stronger as the season wore on. 8.5 for 2018, if our offensive line doesn't get savaged by injuries (knock on wood).

6.8/10 he didn't change the game. He didn't provide a threat at running back. He was a reliable receiver out the back field and ok blocker. He's a glorified 3rd round back. Not an every down guy.

IMO his ceiling is way higher than Kamara. In Fact, I think he is better than Kamara, if you look at the runs/reps each one got, CMC did better. Not only that.... CMC also was awesome on ST. Look out folks.

As much as it bothers me to see people being dinguses and not being able to to connect the dots as to why things were the way they were and how things can be in the furture...

 

... it will all be ok when CMC is going the fug off next year and everyone loves him and claims to have always believed in him. 

 

 

The same people that see CMC get a couple of carries and have no choice but to run into a log jam at the LOS are the same people who sees it raining in the north in winter and saying it will never snow here...

 

... because of their limited exposure to the surroundings and their lack of knowlege or reason
