My son's school sent home a paper notifying us that free swine flu shots would be available to the kids at school. Needed our permission to give them one form or the other....or none at all. Initially I decided to allow my 12 year old to get the shot form. Then I realized I didn't know jack squat about the vaccine...read some things and we decided that for now, we'd just decline permission for him to receive the vaccine through school.

Then, I heard from a friend of mine in Texas...his daughter (15) nearly just lost her life after being hit with the swine flu. Some of our Texas peeps may have heard about her. Her story is here:

Needless to say this was pretty frightening when it hits someone you know...they used to live in the Atlanta area and I've been to their house many times and know the kids. So...now I don't know what to think and am really wondering if I should go over to my son's school and have that permission form changed to allow the shot as I initially decided.

The autism research is questionable. Dig into it. Personally, I felt it was worth the risk. You can ask for mercury free shots to be safe, I did with my kids.
