Dont think the blocking was to much of a concern.

The injuries really scared people.  A guy missing his entire last season with Back surgery will make a few teams nervous taking him

He was more of a raw blocker iirc. Injuries and lack of top end speed/YAC hurt.

Another name I would throw into tier 3 maybe tier 2 even is Josh Sweat FSU DE.

Two reasons: young talent at DE is a huge need obviously. Second, this guy has great measurables. Someone will take him higher than his college production based on potential.

I dont think he'll be in consideration in the 1st.  But a real option in the 2nd.  Dude is a pure edge rusher that unfortunately has been wasted playing inside as a 3-4 DE, those OL taking advantage of his twig frame.  Outside at 4-3 egde DE he can use that athletic speed and length to his advantage.  Playing inside in college may help him as well knowing some moves cutting inside

Overall grades still apply, if they don't fit your scheme, you either wipe them from your board, or accept having to try and adapt them. A prospect who doesn't fit your scheme but can adjust still beats out a prospect that does fit your scheme, but has a lower grade. It's about value my dude.

No you didn’t lol, and most huddlers don’t know who is really tier 1 on Panthers board the OP  just used generalized analysis to make that list up sort of  like Mel Kiperish mocks.

Again most huddlers have the DG syndrome: pick players based on position name  rather than actual talent they posses.

Another factor huddlers are also ignoring is the term called force multiplier: ability to raise the games of fellow teammates with complimentary skill set.

I absolutely knew, and posted on this board that he was going in the first round.

Grade > Need.

Well DG did pick Butler over Hunter Henry just cause he was a DT and Hunter Henry had TE besides his name so he couldn’t be a 1st round pick.

I beleive during that season Cam gets beaten to death with few concussion and thing called a shoulder surgery due terrible protection by OTs and no offensive weapons.

Only if had a TE that could have helped block Von Miller and other nasty edge rushers while giving him a target to throw balls to & maybe the season would have gone somewhat  differently.

TEs impact all phases of the offensive game while WR only impact 1/2 of it.

TEs > WRs

end of rant lol

Butler had a higher grade than Henry. Butler actually fell to us, and had a much higher grade than Henry.

No DG put the higher grade on Butler because he was DT instead of his actual skill set and what he brings to Panther and how he complements surrounding players cause you know football is a team game.

I said Hunter Henry was the better prospect and should be drafted over him and looking forward  several season I was right in that scenario.

BTW you could ask CAM about  2016 season when all those concussions and shoulder surgery that Vernon Butler helped prevent ,cause  a TE like Henry wouldn’t have helped in that scenario?

Once again huddlers are following the same DG philosophy.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
