What should the Hornets need to improve with the most?

The problem with the draft is that we don't know the direction the new GM will take us.

Are we going to go all in one more year and try one more year with this same team + Draft Pick? Or are we going to trade away Kemba and start over?

My picks really change depending on what direction we go in.

No Kemba = Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. I think he will give us a PG of the future. I also like the idea of pairing him  with Monk. SGA can guard the 2 guard and we can hide Monk easier. He would be a good guard to start over with.

With Kemba = Mikal Bridges. Large, athletic player who can play right away. He can play multiple positions which Cliff likes.

What in the Hell is the obsession with Mikal Bridges? He's at best a 3 and D guy. Is that what we need? Absolutely not. We need a BOOM Draft pick, and if Carter is there, Trae Young, maybe Robert Williams, I would take them over Mikal Bridges. Those guys have a higher ceiling than Bridges IMO.

We still have no GM, and I would hope a new GM would get rid of Clifford. Had we been playing Monk and Bacon more we would have made the playoffs. That is on coaching. If another GM comes in there and keeps Clifford as coach then that is a sign we got another yes man as GM and nothing has changed. Once a GM is selected he will have to figure out what to do with our meh draft pick. Should of tanked sooner if that was our goal. Being at pick 11 is going to hurt watching all the young talent go to other places as usual. Typical Charlotte NBA basketball,  stuck in the blackhole of the NBA. Looking to stay there I guess.

Awesome in what way? To be a 3 & D guy? That's what we need with this team right now? And we need a PF that can stretch the floor, rebound, etc. Carter has the potential to be something Bridges is 3 & D and that's it. DO NOT WANT.

We need pretty much everything but a starting PG.

SG- Batum is garbage, Monk hasnt shown anything yet to not pass on a real good SG if they fall.

SF- MKG if he's even healthy, he is a decent defender but Zero threat as a scorer.  Bacon has "potential".  But then again its all just potential at this point.  Again big need there

PF- your right we need a PF badly.  Problem is, in order to draft a stud PF in this league.  You need to draft in the top 5.  (Of course there are exceptions, and by that means you can get one in the 2nd Hello Draymond Green)

C- Howard is good, but with Cap strapped.  If a top Center falls, you grab him and move on from Howard.

At this point you go BPA and a stud 4 isnt going to be around when we draft.

Bridges is. And yes we need a 3 and D guy considering our SF is Zero and alright D.  Some compare Bridges to another 3 and D guy who a ton of people would flip to have, K Leonard.

Remember, this league is going to a 3 league following the GS format.

Bridges

1. Provides another scoring option on this team, who can hit jumpers other than Kemba.

2. Long, athletic defender which fits exactly what our staff likes.

3. Allows us to possibly move from a big contract and try to trade MKG and open some cap

All check the box as far as needs for us.  And much better than taking a "risk" at a PF that fell later

Dream scenario for me is draft Bridges.  Trade MKG and Frank for a bottom 1st or early 2nd.  And hopefully Mo Wagner comes out and grab him late first

I just do not see it with Bridges at all. Especially if a guy like Trae Young could be at our pick, but you're probably right. With us winning wayyyyyyyyy more games than we should have recently, yeah. I could see us taking Bridges. And he being Courtney Lee 2.0.

Saying someone is 3 & D doesn't mean there's some unbreakable mid-ceiling.  Bridges has shown he can drive lanes and make an impact beyond the 3-ball.  He can be a legit 2-way.

Ariza (with a better 3-ball), Otto Porter, and Leonard are guys that come to mind.  My reservation with Bridges: He tends to have a softness sometimes and won't be the leader of the pack..but when he is on, he is driving that Nova team as much as Brunson.

Ariza can shoot the 3 well, but he's always been average. Man, if Bridges turns into a Leonard type of player, good Lord. That would be impressive than what I see from him now.

Fair enough.  I'd personally be thrilled with one of the bigs or Trae if they are there for us.  As mentioned, we basically need a boost everywhere and anywhere right now.  Jaren Jackson and Wendell Carter could be two that end up BPA for us.  Maybe Robert Williams.

I just think getting a scorer at the 3 would benefit this team in a big way right now.  Batum/MKG is not cutting it and as much as I want to be excited about Bacon, we just need the help there and Bridges fits.  There's a bigger risk with Miles and Knox as their offense is not as well refined and Mikal is the best defender in this draft.  I am a big fan of Chandler Hutchison but he won't be the pick; we're not in the right spot to grab him.

Mikal Bridges would be an awesome pick for us if he was there. Yes he's a 3 & D guy, but that is an incredibly valuable skillset to have in this league. One the Hornets don't have. And let's consider that the Hornets are likely picking 10-11 so beggars can't be choosers. Instant impact guys like Ayton and Bagley will be long long gone by the time we're up. I think Bridges can develop into much more than just a 3 & D guy. He's very talented.

I also really like Wendell Carter if we were to take him. Would rather have him than Robert Williams given the choice between the two. Carter reminds me of Clint Capela with a better jumper. I think his floor is lower than Bagley which is why Bagley will go way higher, but I'd argue that Carter's NBA ceiling is potentially higher. The frame and rim protection ability are already NBA ready. Just need to develop some offense.

Trae Young wouldn't be my first choice. I think he's a good player, but I don't think he's Steph Curry at all like college media compared him to. I actually think he projects closer to Malik Monk and we already have him. If we go PG in the lottery I think I'd prefer Shai Gilgeous Alexander from UK. The size, athletic ability are so tempting.

Bridges and Carter are at the top of my wish list. Shai GA is my dark horse. I'd be fine with any of them.

Crazy enough, Steph's last year at Davidson compares quite well to Young's first year at OU.

If he's there, and we can maybe get a high pick for Walker, I would take Young.
