Or maybe we can't get a quality FA WR because they know Cam is a inconsistent attention whore prima donna who throws an abnormal number of passes too high to catch and if you are even able to catch one are being set up to be rocked by a thirsty head hunting linebacker.

Yeah. . . I went there.  Show me that eggplant.

Nope.  We just couldn't/wouldn't afford them.

Not gonna lie, I wanted Wallace more than anyone initially.  That's a good deal for the eags.  We wouldn't have gotten close to that deal imo.  Spoils of being champs.

I do like the guys we got though.  I really think we need to sign a TE2 at this point.

lol, we gave the eagles a young corner/safety and they gave us one of the worst receivers in the league for $5 mil per and then signed a superior player to a contract at half that price...

gotta love it.

We gave the Eagles a piece of garbage player that was getting cut here...Worley sucked.

Go back to your legos

Why?  What was wrong/bad about what I wrote?

The trade was not bad for the Panthers. Here is why:

1. Worley was likely to be cut any way. Cutting him this summer would have netted nothing for the team.

2. Smith has had productive years when he has a QB that can throw the ball down the field. He is not "garbage".

3. The only reason he was going to be cut was that the team was over the salary cap, and he had $0 guaranteed money left in his deal.

4. That $0 guaranteed money is still in place, meaning that he can be cut with no salary cap implications.

5. Who they signed after that is immaterial to the trade, and Wallace was not going anywhere else any way, so it is a moot point.

Torrey Smith was productive when he was fast enough that it didn't matter that he was so bad fundamentally as a receiver.  He's a bad route runner.  He has bad hands.  His 4.3 speed is no longer there.  Guys like him don't age well because he's not good at anything but running fast... but ya... blame the QB and call me an idiot.

Who'd we get to replace Worley and what is his cap hit?  How much better is he than Worley?  Cockrell, who is a better player at this stage of their careers, but Worley was going to eat up $670k of cap space compared to Cockrell's $3+ mil.  Is Cockrell 5 times the player?

Could we have desperately used that cap space elsewhere?

Never said you were an idiot.

And as I said, Smith can be cut with no cap hit. If he is as bad as you say, then there is 0 net damage. And whoever we get will surely be better than Worley, as he was not very good. He was probably about 85%-90% to be cut. Why not at least get someone who has a chance to contribute to the team? I guarantee you that Smith can contribute more as a receiver than Sheppard.

So in the end, you get a receiver you dont have to keep, and an upgrade at CB. Worley would have had to be replaced any way. I just don't understand how you can view this as a negative net on the trade.
