24. Carolina: Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State
Goedert and South Carolina’s Hayden Hurst are neck-and-neck among the tight ends. Goedert, though, is a little younger (and therefore has a little more room for development), and makes sense with Greg Olsen at 33.

Kinda feel like they give Carolina the throwaway, unspectacular pick that they feel should go in the first round but not someone at a flashy position (WR, CB) they'd prefer go to a tram like Pitt or Philly. Just feels like they love slotting linebackers and offensive guards to us, like just let us draft a good WR or something

Well ladies and gentlemen everyone who had the square on their Bingo card that reads: "National Writer mocks a TE to the Panthers in the first round." can safely cross that off!

Every year since Greg Olsen has this been a solid bet to make.

I wouldn't be opposed to a TE in the 1st round, but this is not the year to do it.

This is one of the worst TE classes in several years, which means prospects who would normally be projected 2nd-3rd rounders are inevitably pushed up draft boards.

If we're smart, we'll sign Richard Rodgers or Marcedes Lewis and at least address our short-term need for a #2 TE because this doesn't seem like the year we find Olsen's successor, unless we REALLY get lucky and hit on a mid-late round pick or UDFA.
