Sorensen says we should sign Reid, and he's right.

His health is a major concern.

I'd rather have his brother.

I'd take his brother too, but that's no guarantee. For the record, I'd prefer James over either one of them, but that's not likely to happen.

I also served in a combat specific MOS. I dont give two shits about NFL players taking a knee. Owners think it hurts business, so they dont want to sign Kap and other players. Reid is oft-injured, and someone we clearly are not wanting to take a flyer on. Nobody else in the league is doing it either. The reason why, is up to you. I think he's a pumpkin head.. Tolbert concussed the poo out of him. He cant stay healthy.

I think the NFL players vs the military is the wrong angle here.  It's NFL players vs the Police.

I served in the USMC from 2003-2007 -- there is absolutely nothing wrong with him taking a knee. It's not a sign of disrespect, it's a gesture that would be respectful enough to garner attention.

We take a knee for injured players, and fallen brothers, and that is the PERFECT way to one, not only pay respects to the black people that LOST THEIR LIVES UNJUSTLY AT THE HANDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, but to also generate the attention the matter itself needed.

If you can't support that, then you my friend I hope never have a cause that you'd be willing to sacrifice your lively-hood for and to also not be heard.

Good post and very insightful. Personally, I wouldn’t kneel but I am not going to tell someone else how to exercise their freedom of speech or tell another man to “shut up and dribble” when they obviously feel something in their hearts and mind and are in a very unique and special position to bring awareness to a problem in our great country that doesn’t affect everyone.

Just my opinion, but I think a lot of these people crying about this whole anthem kneeling thing and “respect” are phonies and probably deserve to keep their mouths shut more than the men kneeling during the anthem.

It has been spun by certain media outlets and by people on TV as a black men vs police/military. Black men vs authority that can do no wrong. The military angle has worked perfectly for people trying to anger anyone who is offended by the protests.

This kneeling thing works both ways--some people want him just because he kneeled, some would blackball him based on that.  But there are other factors here.  Reid has had a few concussions and knee issues.  The 49ers aren't trying to re-sign him, which is bizarre if he's as talented as all his supporters say.

fug the kneel poo. If injuries are a problem lets bring him in on a low risk 1 year deal. We need a safety(s) badly.

Using this story to drive clicks isn't a concept that only the Observer has identified.

Again, it's a part of it I'm sure. But only a percentage and not the whole story..

Well, if you read the thread you will realize that it's apparently ALL about the kneeling crap.  I agree though, we should get either Reid or another Safety to patch our hole.  But I think we will, a ton of guys are still unsigned and Mathieu taking only 7M probably made it more difficult for them to find contracts they like.

He does seem to be a bit injury prone, but there is no doubt in my mind that he is being black balled for his anthem protests. The fact that there are still people crying about another man exercising his freedom of speech to bring awareness to a problem in our society is very strange. Currently, There are certainly far greater things to be concerned about in our country than peaceful demonstrations. Theres an average of one school shooting a week, politicians paying hush money to keep porn stars quiet about as they cheat on their wives, the education secretary is obviously unqualified for her job, infrastructure is literally falling apart. , the corruption at the top level of our government, and our president or people close to him may be compromised by Russian spies. I could go on and on really but hey man don’t let dem black folkz Neelz during aRe NatIOnAL anthemS.

I'm going to wait and see if he's signed and at what price before I jump to these conclusions just because media is pushing this narrative on us.
