Sorensen says we should sign Reid, and he's right.

Big names. LOL.

Some of these guys are beyond their prime, and the majority of them simply suck. And regardless of the false narrative that some are pushing by saying that Reid sucks, he is clearly the biggest name on the list by far.

You keep believing what you want. I know what's going on with Reid (and Kaepernick), and it's shameful, but expected. And the fact that it's so easily accepted the same as many ills and bad/apathetic behavior in America, and this world, is not  surprising either.

I love how you’re quickly willing to dismiss the rest of the list as “beyond their prime” or that they “suck” but you won’t even consider Reid’s injury that had him on the brink of retirement a few seasons ago as a reason for him still remaining unsigned.

I’m not willing to dismiss the protests as having its place in all of this, but I’m also not willing to say it’s definitively the reason. Pushing that narrative at this point is based on complete assumption and ignores other information that we know is fact. Which is just crazy to do.

Nah the real reason is his anthem protest, everything else is BS excuse to justify the current stance. (Confederates)   <-------

Reid ( Real American)     <-------

Injured players get signed all the time.

I am not dismissing the injuries at all, but what I'm not afraid to say is that notwithstanding injuries---sans protests---Reid would be signed somewhere out of 32 teams. It's that simple for me.  Kap would have a job too, as easily inferior talent has been employed for the last couple of years. That's the truth!

It's amazing how so many see how polarizing this is to the fan base but refuse to accept that the same will occur in the locker room. A slightly above average player like Reid isn't worth it and a below average player like Kaepernik might as well head to Canada.

Why didn’t the 49ers resign him? They have all the cap space in the world.

I'd love to have him personally.

Logically speaking though, being in the South and North Carolina is a heavy military influenced state, it would probably alienate a large section of the fanbase and not be a good business move. I cant really fault the Panthers for not wanting any potential drama after the Hardy fiasco, even though that was a totally different situation, and after JR nightmare,  the Cam vs Women statement, Hurney accusation, the last thing the new owner or Rivera wants right now is more negative press.

Can you handle the truth? If you can't, then hit your back button.

Charlotte Observer's Tom Sorensen rightly says that the Panthers need to sign Eric Reid. He keeps it :100_Emoji_42x42:, and I appreciate it!

"The knee is not an affront to servicemen or police officers. There is fake news, and there are fake arguments. That’s a fake argument. Taking a knee is a quiet and nonviolent way to draw attention to racial injustice."

Preach, Sorensen!  Get right down to the nitty gritty. I have said the same thing on this very forum, and will break it down again if need be (if anyone wants to keep disingenuously clinging to a false narrative).

America and NFL ownership is filled with hypocrites, and the Panthers' current owner has been among them. Do the right thing Jerry Richardson! Tell Hurney to bring Reid in and get a deal done. This would go a long way towards repairing your broken reputation in respect to using racist epithets on the down low, and it would finally show Panthers fans that you actually put this organization above the league and its greedy good ol' boy mentality. Frankly, it's time!  You can seize the moment and do the right thing, or continue to be enveloped by old school notions of the perverse status quo and what I'll refer to as patronizing paternalism.

Sorensen's political correctness may be more palatable, and he is absolutely right about why we should sign Reid.

"The Panthers shouldn’t avoid Reid because he takes a knee. They shouldn’t pursue him because he takes a knee. They should pursue him because they need a safety, and because the man can play."

What about Troy Apke from penn st in round 7? Has the speed and flexibility to play safer or even corner

I'm not against finding excellent talent in the 7th. That's the ideal. Discovering starter worthy players outside of the first couple of rounds is good. If you can do it in the 5th, 6th or 7th, it's outstanding. As for Apke, with our need at Safety, I wouldn't let him go undrafted, and that's regardless if we signed Eric Reid or drafted Justin Reid. The kid was very productive this last season, and has excellent speed. He's certainly worth a look at developing.

The same people that dumped Kap just as soon as they could...? Come on, man.

They'd have more backing them than against them in EVERY NFL locker room tho. Every NFL team have more players that understand what Reid was kneeling for than players who don't.
