Jaguars are releasing WR Allen Hurns

He’s better than every WR in our roster. The fact that he had a 1000 yard season with Bortles and was able as UDFA  rookie to beat out Lee for a starting spot shows how good he really is.

Also his best game as a pro was with Chad Henne

i doubt we pick up another vet WR, probably draft one.

I am not even sure you will see us draft a WR unless a great option falls into our lap. We have so many issues to address that drafting a WR seems like a luxury pick. I am concerned we end up going heavy "need" versus BPA during the draft.

Not that I want to sign this guy, but everyone saying "he'll be overpaid too" probably needs to wake up and realize that those contracts are the new NORM for WRs.    It's not really overpaid when you have like 10 guys in the same offseason getting that money.    This is a passing league, and is more so every year, and teams are realizing this and value the position (other than of course, the Panthers).     Though I do agree, our secondary needs priority right now.

There was plenty of speculation that he was going to be released eventually, so I have to believe Hurney considered his impending availability before signing Smith and Wright.  I think he got the two guys he wanted at this tier at the prices we were willing to pay.

Yeah can't get other people to understand we need better!!!

I don't think anyone disagrees that we need to be better but you can't spend every ounce of the cap money, of which we have a pretty limited amount, on continually adding WR's. Plus, let's not get ahead of ourselves and say that most of the guys available to us(Hurns included) are great ones. We are caught in a tough spot at the moment. The free agent options are lackluster and they are commanding large contracts. The draft isn't looking very strong for WR's either. Adding some affordable veterans(Smith and Wright) are probably about as good as it is going to get for us this offseason.

Not to mention, we have some serious roster holes at the moment. If we went hog wild in the FA WR market, how do you expect to be able to fill the two open holes in the secondary? How about LG? How about our second TE? Or maybe LB, C, TE1, DE, S....all of which are likely to be immediate needs next season.

Cost would be too much for him and wildly inconsistent. The drop off in his numbers is drastic from his high 1k yards a few seasons ago.

At this point, the only FA veteran WR I would be possibly looking at is Mike Wallace who can still fly even at age 31. Wallace has avg. 882 yards the last 2 seasons and isn't going to make the 4.75 mil he made last year. He could be had at 4 million or below and could be within reason when you cut Shepard's salary.

Jaguars have gotten extremely cocky in the matter of one year. Both there top receivers are gone now. Need more weapons on offense cant trust fournette to stay healthy for 16 games.

Watching Marqise Lee the past few seasons, I predict he finally breaks out into a true #1.
