You are a fool.

No everyone of you are morons to think this is such a great pickup. The guy was even hardly on the field because he sucked plain and simple. We picked another guy to score a TD the first game and go away for the other 15 games. Thanks Hurney!!!!

No, we picked up a player with actual receiver skills like route running, catching, etc... that the rest of our receivers don't really have.  Funchess is still a work in progress.  Torrey Smith is a dude who can only run a fly route.  Byrd has a lot of promise and athleticism and I do expect him to make progress this year.  I don't know if Samuel ever becomes a contributor.

What history does Wright have? his best seasons was barely over 500 yards, the last two seasons he doesn’t even have 400 yards combined.

He couldn’t beat out Treadwell, in a Vikings team that was willing to start an UDFA as their number 2, so you know he had opportunity after opportunity.

Its actually disrespectful of me to compare him to Avant, Avant was twice the receiver Wright is.

With Mccaffrey and Olsen, Wright will be irrelevant

Wright was their number 3 receiver.... See all of 2017.  I dont know how you can expect wright to have ridiculous numbers considering the offense revolved around Rudolph, Thielen, and Diggs. (It will be the same here as well)

Avant? Are you for real dude? Wright will probably end up with the exact same stats (but more Td's) as Avant. Wright has a better catch % as Avant as well. I am not sure why the two being compared because they are both middle of the road receivers outside of 3rd down.

There's reasons to be concerned but try to make good arguments.  Treadwell doesn't play the same position and the UDFA is an All-Pro.

Sheppard didn't even have that... And again stop telling me what happen in another teams system with sub par QB's most of his career.. If you can't see his hands, speed and ability to move the chains.. Not my fault .. Go take a class or something..

Apperantly you know something the Vikings coaches don’t cause he got beat out by every other WR, even Charles Johnson beat him out for snaps

This is typical huddle blind optimism on a JAG WR

They play the same position...

Not the same role, and if he was good enough he would have got more snaps

Treadwell (and Johnson) are split ends.  Wright is a slot which was manned primarily by Diggs and Thielen.  Not the easiest two to steal snaps from.

And why you think Wright wasn’t involved in the Vikings offense more? Just by coincidence or can it be the fact that he’s just not that good

You do know Avant has had a WAY better career than Wright? It’s not even that close. And why are they being compared you asked, is cause they are both jag castoff WR no other teams wanted and the panthers signed.

Snap counts since 2014 for Vikings receivers you listed:

  2014 2015 2016 2017
Jarius Wright 515 431 119 254 1319
Charles Johnson 440 218 406 0 1064
Laquan Treadwell 0 0 80 500 580

You weren't even remotely close to correct. Just stop.

Diggs is now a slot receiver LOL

And the reason Wright is relegated to slot only is cause he’s that bad at playing on the outside

How many circles are you gonna jump through to keep making excuses for Wright’s lack of production.

That I specifically said he beat him out every year? That’s a no

And just look at those names, Johnson who nobody wants, Treadwell whose a giant bust and now Wright. Nice company who beat out Wright

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
