I've never really thought about being out of money mid-season. Just because you seem to know your stuff, what would be the plan for the following teams if this were the case? Left column being current cap space. Far right being dead money.

Giants $5,225,150 $5,225,150 70 $168,726,466 $3,478,255
Steelers $2,574,015 $2,574,015 61 $173,153,241 $5,141,595
Saints $2,317,073 $2,317,073 74 $158,850,332 $14,065,970
Cowboys $608,438 $608,438 57 $169,721,215 $14,811,112

Dallas only has 608k in CAP ROOM?

While poor gettlemen has 5.2

My reading of the info is that a team has to always maintain a level below the cap, otherwise teams could just sign any available studs after the season starts and blow through the cap.  If a team puts a guy on IR, his entire salary counts against the cap while his replacement does as well.

You can either not put a guy on IR and roll with 52 healthy bodies, restructure someone healthy, or cut someone else and find a cheaper replacement.

I haven't looked at those teams specifically, but I suspect when the final cuts are made, most teams will have several million for these issues.  We'll know in September.

Eric Reid to pair with his brother when we draft him. Ebron would be nice but i'd be happy with Willson. Breaux or Breeland. Would like a vet offensive guard but nothing great is our there. Get those 3 and I think we would be heading into the draft in great shape.

Breaux is not very good. Not sure why so many are clamoring for his signing.

Just like Boston. Why would you want to bring him back? Would much rather bring back an intimidator like Mitchell. Just as good/bad as Tre in coverage, but brings so much more in run support and just knocking the Shiite out of anybody with the ball.
