I'd agree.

Said it elsewhere. This would be a time where I'd feel a lot better if I had more confidence in our secondary coaching.

Two rookies would be tough, but I don't get the fuss about LG--used to be you would throw some failed OT in the spot and would be fine.

There's an awful lot of quality defensive tackles out there these days. Throw in the number of teams that like those Double A blitzes.

Oh we still have a chance looking at our D compared to Az should put us in a good negotiating situation with a player who wants to win I know dollars matter if fits matter also. Dam I want to sign Breeland to a injury type of contract where he can still make his pay outs with good preformances.

On Breeland, anything's possible but I get the feeling that ship has sailed.

Plan is always the same here. Grab an UDFA or street FA and pray he becomes an all-pro. Carolina just doesn’t value the secondary players in any way at all. And considering the League is a pass-first league now, it won’t work. But don’t tell Hurney that. Not that he’d listen anyway. So the Panthers will trot out FA safety Jag LaNobody and some other lesser-known talents and the fans will wonder why Brees and Matty Ice get to carve up our team. It’s depressing.

Lord knows I'm not one to defend Marty Hurney, but the secondary being of secondary importance is ultimately Ron Rivera's preference.

The head coach sets the system and prioritizes which positions are most important to that system's success. The GM then goes and looks for those kinds of players.

John Fox had pretty much the same feelings. That's why he didn't bother to assign Chris Gamble to Larry Fitzgerald in the 2008 playoffs.

Bet Hurney is exploring trades at this point. Breeland was a nice fit but that foot is too much of a risk right now ESPECIALLY at his position. 2 months to get it right at a minimum assuming the skin graft heals well, etc... and the he has to put cleats on and backpeddle, pivot, etc... while the sock fills up with sweat and hope it holds up.

Would be nice but we're dealing with limited cap and can't afford to spend on a guy that won't be ready to play anytime soon.

And who doesn't seem especially happy with us not inclined to wait around for us to offer him a lower salary.

Like I said, I think that ship has sailed (on both sides).

We had Ken Lucas and Gamble then. The most recent first round CB (and 2nd of 2) and arguably one if our relativey higest profike FA acquisitions playing cb at tge same time.

Come on football historian.
