I'm wondering if he's seen Hurney opening up the pocket book for all these FAs when he asked for a raise last year and is using it as leverage to get more money.

That’s what I’m thinking. Greg said last year he thought he could play another 4-5 years and that it didn’t change with the injury. I’m thinking Greg wants a nice comforting 2-3 year extension. Which he very well may get. He has a future in the booth for sure but it’s not as close as this report makes it seem.

Good for Greg. Older. Bad injury this year. Worries of CTE. Young family.

Panthers have had several years to prepare this and haven’t.   Same story different player

they best prepare for Newton too whose contract expires in 2020  he has taken quite a beating    Has a  young family     I’m sure plenty of teams would try and get him or he may have other interests

as we have just seen , QBs don’t grow on trees

Exactly what I was gonna say.  We've had time for an insurance plan.  Chances are 50/50 that Greg will ever be the same elite guy if he returns anyway.  No malice towards him though, I totally get it.

Nah. Auditioning for the mnf job isn’t something that you can just wake up to do. I imagine it is a process.

He's not getting the Monday Night job, but if he did can't really blame him for taking it.  It's one of the biggest broadcasting jobs out there for a guy who clearly wants to do that after he retires.  Not every day that job opens up and he always has seemed like the kind of guy who has the mentality to get out early.
