He was a little reckless I think.  Obviously talented from a physical aspect, but he gambled and got beat too much and was always good for a stupid penalty at the wrong time.  If he played with a little more discipline he would be a great get, but that's a big if.

But comp picks can help build depth.  Not only do you get a player you get a player on a really cheap contract that allows you to spend to more money on free agents.

Didn't somebody list a chart of teams by number of picks the past x number of years.  If I remember correctly the teams with the most picks on average had a higher winning percentage then those that don't.  I would bet the same holds true with comp picks.

I agree that not worrying about comp picks is the best way to put a quality team on the field next year, but playing the comp pick game might put a better team on the field the next 5 years.

Overall we probably would have been better off chasing comp picks this year and spending next based on what free agents we have this year and what ones we will probably have next.  Next year we could lose Funchess and Williams.  Personally I would prefer to replace guard and d tackle on the cheap instead of right tackle and wide receiver.  If we have let Gano go and/or Dickson or Anderson signs with someone else we could have actually got 4 picks, two of them would have probably been a third and fourth.

I'm glad you said it, makes no sense to not improve the team to earn Dam Comp picks man please stop with this craziness. They're good to have but not worth plotting for especially in our current window of stars.

I’m sorry but I have a hard time believing no one will sign him because he protested. Sure they may not like it but if your s decent player they will overlook it. Hell if woman beaters and murders can get signed I see no reason why they wouldn’t sign him for protesting.

 

You could argue but yeah what about Kap but kap sucks, hardly won any games his last few years and supposedly had a bad attitude which is very important when it comes to the Qb position.

Yeah, I said as much. 

I really think we're underestimating the value of having an extra top 100 pick for a team with several veterans leaning into retirement soon. I understand the desire to fill every hole possible, but there's a few good safeties on the cut market as well. 

Your premise here isn't exactly likely. I'm not advocating avoiding a player in favor of a sixth-round camp body, the Norwell pick would be a third, and those guys aren't usually cut in camp. 

I'm also not saying we shouldn't address safety. Plenty of options out there that were cut that won't cost future picks. 

we're in win now mode. Worley was a late pick and a starter and look how that panned out. Also CAP was a sixth rounder many touted to replace Stewart. That time is now, yet people want a pick. We get one maybe two starters out of the draft, and we shouldn't be depending on the draft for those guys. The numbers on Poe need to be released. The announcement is supposed to be today or the woman who reported is full of poo (which I won't be surprised). I have a feeling a lot is going on behind the scenes in terms of planning and restructuring that we aren't being told. Maybe they don't want an announcement made until Hurney is 100% sure on something. All of our predictions on who we could bring in have been wrong but in the best way possible. For all we know at about 4:00 today we could trade for a safety that no one even expected.
