I have a feeling Carolina is going to trade Butler.  Washington doesn't like him and he has underachieved so far.

Some may be frustrated at spending money on another DL, but we had a need and this will tak a LOT of pressure off of the defense elsewhere. A great line can make the secondary look good and vice versa. We have an OK secondary as is. Add some picks in the draft and a few solid vets on the cheap and the whole will be much greater than the sum of its parts.

A team HAS to be great somewhere, we have chosen to be great, not only on the DL but along the entire front 7. We have hall of famers lining up at LB, studs across the DL AND POTENTIALLY another Hall of famer at DE if Peppers comes back. That alone has the makings of one of the best defenses in football. And defense wins championships. We also have a pretty stout offense with one of the best offensive minds in football taking over. Fill a few holes and this team is primed for a big season.

P.S. We still overpaid for an average NT that has had difficulty staying in shape and not stressing the discs in his back for his career.  Hopefully he won't consider this overpaid contract as time for him to relax and eat up.  Like he did with KC.

Since I mocked the Falcons for signing him last year because I didn't think he was that good any longer (and certainly not worth the price being paid for him), why in the ninth circle of hell would I do an about face and give credit to Hurney for signing him and giving him EVEN MORE this year?

So, no, I would most definitely NOT be "jerking off Gettleman" if he made this signing.  Sorry to disappoint your mistaken expectations.

(P.S. I may have considered the courtesy of a reach-around for either DG or MH if he had signed for a significantly lower price.)
