Yes, but we also had a healthy, younger Greg and Cotch to play 3rd downs.  I can guarantee Ginn wasn't in on 3rd and short like we'll need from Smith without a real starting WR or possession receiver added to this group.

Have you forgotten that Shula's favorite play call on 3rd and short was oftentimes all downfield routes with no checkdowns? Ginn was probably in for those.

I thought Ginn played majority of the snaps for us?

All Rivera says is that Smith will be our savvy veteran that can stretch the defense. He compares smith to cotchery constantly. Except, he can go deep.

Smith and Cotch are literally polar opposites except that they are both "vets".  Smith is a one-trick-pony deep threat with bad hands and Cotch was a gritty possession receiver who does all the dirty work over the middle.  They literally couldn't be more different from a skill set standpoint.

Good lord dude.  Fine.  Maybe Shula had him in on stupid plays?  Cotchery had a 72% catch % in 2015.  Ginn had a 45% number.  Smith is like 49% for his career.

You want a guy with a 49% career catch % playing on 3rd downs?  OK man.  Let's see how that works out.

No way ur drafting a starting wr maybe other than Ridley or Kirk. I don't see us going after one till Rd 3. Don't need a developmental wr we are in win now mode.

DJ Moore is ahead of Kirk on a lot of lists now (and I can see why).  He's strong, a good  route runner,  has great hands,  nice speed, and plays on the outside.  He's probably as pro ready as they come.

As for Crabtree,  making that move would be smart,  especially within the context of this offseason where guys with all kinds of red flags are getting paid very well for incomplete bodies of work.

lol it takes a special kind of person to put LinvilleGorge on ignore. Can’t say ive heard that one before.

I find his comments to be especially pointless, but I can see how many of you might value that kind of insight.

@LinvilleGorge I enjoy your comments.

Aj Green and Dez Bryant have similiar career catch% as Torrey Smith.

Point being: Catch % isn't a way to judge whether or not Torrey Smith will do well in our system. The routes you run have a big impact on your catch %.

We don’t face the Rams this year, do we? Lord, I don’t want to see a player on my favorite team get punked.

Other than that, I’m all for it. I’d give up a 6th if needed.

Bet money, Talib  would get dragged if he went at one of our boys, Crabtree or not.

Cam, Turner, Olsen would all have Crabs back.  It’d also be hard to keep TD, Luke on the right side of the field.
