Now Torrey Smith is officially a steal

Fact: Smith was cheaper to trade for than to sign in FA after being cut.

Fact: Smith's salary is small compared to what the FA are getting.

Fact: Paying Smith $5 mil to be bad next year is a waste of resources that could've been applied to positions of higher need.

Fact: Smith offers virtually no upside, even at $5mil.

What other "facts" are you quoting from your magic 8 ball?

You're free to dispute what I wrote if you want, stupid comments like you made don't really add to the discussion....

You've just written someone off who has yet to play a down, yet here I am detracting from the discussion?

Okay. Well I'll keep my stupidity far away from you and this thread.

Probably because I've watched Torrey Smith play football since he was in college and I know that he's not very good.  He can run fast though, which seems to be the going rate for acceptability here.

He's a proven commodity from a Super Bowl winner. You just pulled whatever you said out of your ass.

The only thing proven about Torrey Smith is:

1. He's fast

2. He has dreadful, Ginn-like alligator arms

3. He's not very good at beating press coverage (biggest red flag for this team IMO)

4. He doesn't make contested catches (another huge red flag, considering Cam's love for tight windows and overthrows)

5. He doesn't run good routes and is really only a situational deep threat

Yeah, that Ginn Guy you lot love to poo on was a flukey ass once in a lifetime play away from being in the Super Bowl.

Regardless, you're clearly being very subjective on the matter. I mean what player doesn't have flaws? Nobody has declared T.Smith to be the key that revitalizes the team's offense. But he's a step in the right direction in addressing it. You know, instead of getting hyped up for Charles Johnson and R.Sheppard tiered scrubs.

Ginn is basically Torrey Smith, but we were paying him half of what Smith will make.  We also got Ginn when we had literally no other speed options, while this team as two.  Again, we need receivers who can do the stuff Smith can't do.  We have people who can do what Smith does.

Why is this so hard for everyone?

posted in other smith thread (idk why we have 2)

2 things stand out to me right away

1. Eagles were misusing Smith as he posted his worst yards per catch by far. Them turning Nelson alghlor into a deep threat helps NA but hurt TS. Was also in an overall stacked offense

2. Smith posted his best catch % of his career.

Lol...comparing Smith's salary to FA wr's is simplistic and moronic.  His value is based on his future production at his current cost.  It has nothing to do with what other wr's are getting in FA.  He wasn't even a FA to begin with so the cost comparison is invalid.

But continue on lawding Hurneys genious and your intelligent circle jerk.

What? He was going to be released due to the Eagles being over the cap. So he would most certainly have been a free agent. It has everything to do with what other FA WRs are getting. Are you so blinded by your Hurney hatred that you will continue to search for ways to justify your bashing of every single move that he makes? It is not "lawding Hurney's geinious" to recognize that the existing contract the Smith has is a lot better than what he would have gotten had he hit the FA market.
