More so a typical g-man signing.  Worst position on their team glued together with a guy with little if any tread left on the tires

Plenty of tread if you can block for him...could be positioning to take Chubb in draft...

Not sure what you are trying to say. He has no upside. But he can still play football. He can still fight for yardage and score touchdowns. He just has no upside.

I'm saying his burst is gone. His legs are shot. Handing the ball to Stewart at this point is practically giving away a down.

It depends on how and when you use him. He's not a feature back. He's a bruiser. There is still a place for that in a limited role. He's still physical, he can still score on the goal line. And if the defense makes a mistake he can still break loose. He did have a 60 yard run last season.

If he matches his stats from last season without the big contract or expectations, he will be a valuable role player for the Giants. Fans here got so angsty about the run game but we had bigger problems than J Stew.

Back to back seasons averaging under 4ypc. Here's how bad Stew was overall last year....

If you subtract his two good games (17 carries for 110 yards vs. Miami and 16 carries for 103 yards vs. Minnesota) then he averaged 2.8ypc while rushing for a total of 3 TDs in the other 14 regular season games.

Hence why I set the over/under at 3ypc next year. Stew is just not an NFL caliber RB at this point.

I could see maybe using him like the Steelers did Bettis during his last few seasons, i e goal line / short yardage only. That's how he had that one game with the ridiculous stat line of 5 carries, -1 yard and 3 touchdowns.

Stewart could conceivably thrive in that role. I can't really see him doing much more than that though.
