You don't FUGGIN cut Ryan FUGGIN Kalil

In my opinion, the real difference maker on our offense last year was the speed on the outside.  After we traded KB, the increased playing time for Byrd and Samuel seemed to coincide with the improvements we made on offense.  Just having the threat of speed could have been the difference.  They didn't even have to catch the ball a lot.  Having the speed of Ginn and Philly Brown probably played a part in our offense's success in 2015 too.  Once Samuel and Byrd both got hurt, you saw our offense start to struggle again.

Here's the stats. Kalil vs. Larsen...

Passing yards per game: 167 with Kalil, 206 with Larsen

Rushing yards per game: 128 with Kalil, 131 with Larsen

Total offensive yards per game:  303 with Kalil, 336 with Larsen

Points per game: 20ppg with Kalil, 24.3ppg with Larsen

1st downs per game: 20 with Kalil, 20 with Larsen

Sacks per game: 2 with Kalil, 2.3 with Larsen (though it's worth noting that the two worst sack games with Larsen were his 1st two starts and we averaged 1.6 per game in his final 8 starts)

Win/Loss record: 4-2 with Kalil, 7-3 with Larsen

Not only are we not significantly better with Kalil, we're actually significantly WORSE.

lol

Panther fans, especially Igo are so emotional. These are the facts. The cap hit are the facts. Next year Kalil will be gone but we don't save any money like we do this year. There is NO logical arguments, backed by facts such as this, and the fact Kalil has been injured that can can ever be made for keeping Kailil.

I get it, with Hurney we are forced to deal with these kind of personne decisions and as always as a coping method the huddle will try to justify it in some sort of non factorial way "but his brother...but chemistry...butttt"...but the stats, injuries, but the cap hit, but the fact the problem WILL STILL BE there next year without the savings... these things on paper, they are facts.

Yeah, I'm sorry but a $10M wet nurse for our $8M LT? Please...

Anything we do with that cap space isn't going to cause a big enough impact to justify cutting Kalil(even if he only plays 10 games)

A valid argument. But can we roll that 10m into next year? I'd even rather do that.

So choices are keep Kalil for 10m to maybe play all games at a certain level.

or, don't pay Kalil, see the same if not better level of play (according to facts) and save 10m to roll over to a new GM (hopefully) and new owner.

Also a fair point. I just think he deserves one last shake at things. If his contract was stopping us from some big move or addition I'd be on board with cutting him.

Ok, but can we ask him to take a pay cut so we can add some pieces around him to make his final season in the NFL as productive as possible? This feels like the kind of "sacred cow" situation that was Hurney's downfall the first time around. Ryan wanted to have this experience with his brother and got a very limited opportunity last year, so we have some leverage.

Hey Ryan, if you want to play your final full season alongside your brother and help him perform at his best along the way we're gonna need to do something about this 10 mil cap hit.

Maybe we have an just don't know about it, but this feels like the kind of sacred cow situation that was Hurney's downfall the first time around.

it does feel awfully familiar doesn't it.  two undisputed franchise legends in kalil and davis who are on the downhill portions of their careers but based on their cap figures you'd think they were 28 years old.

At least TD has been available to play on a regular basis, Ryan has only played in 14 games over the last 2 seasons and seems to have some sort of degenerative condition in his neck that he's trying to squeeze one more season out of before calling it quits.

Kalil is gearing up for his movie career after football, Im sure he wants all the money he can get before he parts ways with the NFL.

Yeah, so we may have to just take our chances with his brother and cut his ass... that's how you run a business.

What you're lost if you think ten mill for a player tho could wake up with that neck and miss ten games but it's ok his brother feels good when he plays he brings us stability even tho we can't count you to be available fourth highest cap hit for centers while Larsen is making 630k. It happens back loaded contracts are designed for teams to get out of high hits late in the players contract the Not For Long league for a reason pay cut is the only option.

Dude you have no concept. It's been explained why he will be retained. I get it that you don't agree, but that just makes you the lost one.
