Adrian Peterson?

I know random thread about a random free agent.. but I don’t see why they wouldn’t atleast kick the tires and see what kind of money he would command(not that much I imagine). He’s no longer the stud he was but,he could be that change of pace back we need behind CMC, a thumper that gets it done in the redzone and between the tackles. I think he has atleast one more season in him as he did put up some good games in Arizona... what say you?

Depends on price and whether he'd accept a role where he isn't the main guy--he was certainly frustrated in NO before getting trade and getting 25-30 carries/game in AZ. I also tend to think players like him actually NEED 20+ carries per game to get in a rhythm and have success. I'm not so sure he'd be great addition in a limited role. But I'd be open to it. He's definitely one of the all time greats and still has some run left in him. AZ's line was terrible, among the worst in the league last year, and Peterson still played extremely well there. And that was without a QB threat either and the only receiving threat being Fitz...

I'd rather just go into the season with cmc, cap, and whoever gets drafted. Too many other needs to address with the limited amount of cap space.

I don’t understand the huddles obsession with cap. He is just a jag. He doesn’t have any dynamic traits. He’s not fast he’s not powerful he’s just a north south runner. He’s about 210 pounds not really a thumper.. I would rather see him not on the roster come the start of the season.

He can be upgraded apon. My whole point  was to fill a need and save a draft pick to fill other needs. I think a stopgap would be good. Ap is that. Now I’m not saying don’t draft a rb, but I would like to plug as many holes as I can before the draft so I’m not forced to draft a rb.

To be fair, CAP really hasn't gotten a fair shot in regular season games.  We don't know 100% whether he can contribute or not.  I lean towards YES he can, just based off the small sample size we have

AD has proven time and time again that you shouldn’t bet against him, and I won’t. That said, I really want us to have one year with cmc as the feature back. Idk why there’s this belief that we have to bring someone else in. Shadys the same weight

1) Yayyy another FA thread

2) I had no idea mccoy and CMC were essentially the same rate. Good fact

The Cardinals let him go.  The Saints let him go.  Minnesota let him go.

I love AP.  An amazing running back and a certain HOFer but it's over.  He might hit you one or two games of his old brilliance but for a 16 game season.   You are signing the name not the talent.

He's done.

AP enjoy your 5 year break.   We'll see you on the 2022 HOF ballot

    • I'd give it a C mainly because of Brooks.  If we just didn't have a 2nd I'd argue B to B+ tbh. Brooks was a bad gamble, tho one that could still pay off long term. Yes XL only has 400 yards but... Look who is throwing him the ball. And I think he isn't a "true #1" but he's been able to consistently get open. Hands definitely need to be cleaned up.  But he should end the year with 500-600 yards. Like you said - Sanders looks great.  Get him a better QB / more time with a QB and I think he's gonna impress. We added a couple rotational players on D that have both made plays and show promise for the future from later rounds. So I'd say, Brooks really hurts this drafts grade. It'll be interesting to see how it progresses over the next 3 years. I've overall really liked Morgan's FA acquisitions, so...
    • Oh he would absolutely flourish. It’s the panthers way. It’s no different with coaches. Sometimes they reach their expiration date, go somewhere else, and find new success.  Similarly to Burns, how long to wait for the light to finally turn on?  Market forces will demand a salary that the panthers can not responsibly match. Sliding him to guard will fit his skill set better, but he has played LT for 3 years. He will receive offers from other teams wanting to pay him LT money.  At guard, he won’t start with what they have paid Hunt and Lewis. Center then?? Dunno. Maybe? He will become a backup by default once they draft their stud LT. I doubt Dan just stands pat. That’s not his MO.  So where does this put him? Can you match what other teams will offer for a backup LT/guard? Do you dish out franchise LT $ on a guy who still needs significant improvement in pass protection. This team will be DOA in the playoffs with the very first team who has a formidable speed rusher. What if he has hit his ceiling in pass protection already and they sign him long term? It’s a big gamble either way.
    • We're in a great position to see just how big of a misstep it would be, having made so many ourselves
