Ownership Hunt: Michael Rubin's Team Consists Of Joseph Tsai, Diddy, Steph Curry, And Local Investors

Rubin and Tsai. Both have the dollars, the youngest group, both have experience in having ownership pieces, Sixers players love Rubin, and they want to add local investors to their bid (and it's to show good faith, because they don't really need the money). Diddy will probably own a single digit percentage if he is a part of this group.

This is my team right here.

Sabates said he doesn't know if he'll keep it in Charlotte. I for one do not want some dude coming in here and taking the team out of Charlotte after a few years. And with the group of people he has on board, it wouldn't shock me if that would happen.

Gotta say...of all the serious owners who have been brought up - and by "serious" I mean guys with multiple billions, guys that yokels have never heard of because they don't own NASCAR tracks - Rubin and his group are probably the least likely to extort the community or move the team.

Edit: Sabates is a joker, obviously. No chance in hell he ends up anywhere near NFL ownership. The Rubin group sounds like it has a real chance.

Yup.

As I mentioned in another thread, Diddy is basically a cosmetic owner - the ownership group is buying a piece of his cultural cachet every bit as much as he's buying a piece of the team.

Since the league is currently owned primarily by the moron grandchildren of a previous generation of lucky (racist) imbeciles, it could probably use some new-look ownership.

Predictions:

1. Rubin/Tsai/Diddy/Curry/locals, 2. Tepper, 3. Navarro

Want:

1. Rubin/Tsai/Diddy/Curry/locals, 2. Tepper, 3. Navarro

However, even though the Rubin group has the most money, never underestimate one of the richest hedge fund managers in the world from getting something he wants (Tepper).

Based on everything I've read about him, Rubin would be a GREAT majority owner. I know nothing about Tsai, so I can't really comment on him.

As for Diddy, as a minority owner I don't have a problem with it. Not sure I'd trust him as the majority owner as I get the sense he'd want to get too involved in football decisions, but I would have no problem with him owning part of the team.

The report of Steph Curry possibly joining the group is really good news and would almost certainly indicate that the team won't end up moving.

Yea, Diddy & Steph are pretty much non factors, but it will be nice to have an actual Panthers fan in ownership with Steph.

A young progressive guy like Rubin would be dope, as well. I feel not only would he do his best to bring in the best talent on the field, he’d also want to bring in an all star staff/management team, as well. There’s be change all throughout the organization, and I’m ready for that.

Yeah guys, I'm sure a group with Steph Curry in it would be just itching to move the team. *eyeroll* And to the person that said he didn't know how much Tsai and Rubin would spend, the net worth of those two plus Diddy is worth something like $16 billion, even more than Tepper. They would become the group with the most money.

I'm fine with any of these players except Peter Navarro.

Lol yeah cause you know Curry so well. People are looking to cash in and have 0 ties to Charlotte or the NFL. They could move the team to Oakland in the same state where Curry lives and make way more money.

His ownership stake would be insignificant and he would have no power in stopping such a move. Do you know how the whole situation works?
