Free Agent Biggest Fear

Word is we are going to be active in free agency.

That said it seems every time Hurney dives in early.  We over pay for a free agent.  (cue up Gettleman - Kalil comments)

I hope we get what we need but god knows I am terrified at what Hurney might do if he dives in Day 1.

I’m not fearful of anything really cause even the Torrey Smith addition is already on the right track.. we’re better than we were yesterday at WR. We never overpay for skill positions so going against the grain there wouldn’t bother me for an AROB, PRICH, or MONCRIEF. We have other players we can cut if need be to keep our cap grounded. I would like to add a RB on the cheap too because we need a seasoned vet. Actually wouldn’t hate bringing in AP to run on goaline situations and up the gut... might be a nice fit for us while we groom a drafted RB in the 3rd/4th rnd.

Thanks for your service, sir.  I appreciate the fact that Panther chat may be a nice diversion for you and will not be critical  of anyone defending my right to post whatever the hell I want.  Having said that, We have about $19.7m left in the piggy bank.  We can restructure, cut, etc. if needed. There are literally thousands of options, but I am not sure that we go after any high enders.  I am looking for a G, a S, and maybe a DT.  I am expecting next week to be the time for us--not this week.

Hurney hasn't "gone headfirst" in FA since 2005, when they got Ken Lucas and Mike Wahle. Ma'ake Kemoeatu was 2006's big signing.

DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jake Delhomme, Charles Johnson, Mike Wahle, Charles Godfrey, etc.  He is insecure, so he overpays players to stay here--validating his draft picks.  He has brought in a few where he paid too much, but he is insecure trusting his ability to gauge a good fit in the Panther system at the time so he is less likely to overpay for the unknown.  He is a fraud, to a large degree--like a member of Trump's cabinet.

Hurney possibly jumping in the deep end of the pool again. I’m actually for it, but I just hope he doesn’t sink. This period of time could potentially set us up nicely for the draft.

Most of those were extensions. You might have a case with Charles Johnson, but he was our guy.

Mike Whale was a pro bowler here. We reached the NFC Championship game that season.
