nfln didn't want him anymore. his contract was up and he was getting scooped by the likes of mark florio who was also being more all around credible than schefter (if you can believe that) so nfln didnt want to bother picking up his big price tag. he floated around for while trying to appear relevant but ended up settling with espn after a while.

he used to be a good inside source and made some lucky calls but over the last year has been pretty worthless. still highly regarded by some people which is why he has a job at espn but he is essentially as big of a joke as espn.

I don't really think it's Schefter's fault. He's asked to make so many appearances and ESPN asks him to answer so many questions that he's got to say something. And most of the time, it's pure speculation, and he makes that clear. I don't have any problem with him.
