Jason La Confora - Panthers Showing Interest In Acquiring WR Allen Robinson

Panthers should conduct their business as if Peppers is not coming back

Still waiting for Marty to start showing the separation between GM and his emotions.  Marty got hammered when he let Pep go to the Bears--he is scared that we will rip him again--so he is giving Pep all the cards.  Kalil averages 7 games a year and announces that he will play one more season when Marty is named the GM---he knew Gettlemen would have cut him.  Instead, Marty does not renegotiate his deal and lets him earn nearly a million a game standing on the chalk with an ice pack on his neck--Ka-ching.

Marty is who he is.  He is saying, "I learned from my mistakes." and admits he became too emotional, but he can't see it when it is right in front of him.  Do you think Kalil would be on the Patriots roster? The Steelers?  NO. They do not use future contracts to reward the glory days--that were rewarded at the time.  He can't help it.  He is too insecure and uninformed to rely on anything other than emotion.  He is a fraud.

Technically we can offer him 13mil a year right now. Reality we have to build a team, so that 13mil we can offer right now, would not allow us to build a team and sign our FA's.

Which is why we need to get creative and cut Kalil and Smith. We can get Robinson if we really wanted him. Point blank!

Sheperd, I think you meant.

The biggest issue right now isn't whether or not we can actually make a move for one of the top sought after veteran WR's. We have the means if it really boils down to it. The issue is that though the cost is very high, none of the available options are without looming concerns. Whether it be Allen coming off a major injury and hoping to return to form, or inconsistency from Watkins.

Would be interesting, and easy to do, but I feel like we'd need to have already manipulated contracts and changed some things up.  A LOT of the top guys will be agreeing to terms basically right away.  Ain't got time to get Ryan Kalil and Torrey Smith and Russell Shepard on the phone to restructure or be cut, etc.

Also wouldn't surprise me if ARob has been our target all along, despite the Sammy Watkins crowd's wishes.  One thing to remember...Sammy was arrested in college for weed IIRC.  JR very well could've said no to him when he was a rookie coming out for all we know, and I'm sure his word still matters at BoA and with Hurney.

Ryan Kalil has played how many games the past two seasons ?

he is on the wrong side of 30

his cap hit is high

what would NE do?  Do that,

he can take his retirement tour somewhere else.

wtf is the point in cutting Kalil to sign Robinson if by doing so will leave Cam with no protection and no time to even fuging throw the ball down the field to him?

Kalil has not been in the game much, Wing.  Averages missing 9 games a year for the past 2 years.  When he has been in the game, he is not what he once was--but we pay him like an All Pro.  Yet to play those 14 games we paid him $20m.  I see your point, but if he can't get on the field...

You can get someone to play C for a lot less money.
