Giants Asking Dominique Rodgers Cromartie To Take “Significant” Pay Cut

He's a 31 year old CB with a $8.5M cap hit with $6.5M in cap savings if they cut him and he's declined to the point that they were considering moving him to safety this off-season. This isn't surprising.

But yeah, like the previous poster mentioned, DG vs. OBJ is gonna be some FUN poo to watch. Especially after that contract the Bucs just handed Mike Evans.

Gettleman’s got a TON of leverage after Odell’s coke video dropped.

No he doesn't. OBJ has never failed a drug test and isn't in the substance abuse program. If he hit the open market there would be no shortage of bidders. If anything, that Evans contract just ensured no extension will be reached this off-season and we'll get to see another Gettleman franchise tag showdown next off-season.

We’ll see.

If the league office decides to do something about it, it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

FWIW, the Giants FO has already been made aware of that video. We’ll see where it goes from here.

What can they do about it? He's never failed a test. The video doesn't show him obviously partaking in any illegal substance. He can easily claim that blunt it a cigar. Nothing will come of this as long as OBJ continues to pass his tests in the NFL's farce of a testing program. NFL substance tests are more IQ tests than substance tests. Players know the periods when they can be tested. No one actually wants to see players suspended. Not the NFL, not the owners, GMs, or coaches. Not the players, agents, or fans. It's all for the sake of appearances and the only people who get caught up are idiots and people with actual substance abuse issues.

    • I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal. Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection. Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real. And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.  Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.  I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story. Bryce Young kept pounding.
    • Outside of Philly (who currently is #3 in pass defense) the rest of our remaining opponents are bottom 1/3 of the League in that regard.  Let's see what Bryce can do versus bad pass Ds.
