Film Analysis: Is Panthers WR Torrey Smith The Answer?

He's here to fill a niche. We sorely lacked a deep threat last year. Torrey Smith is a deep threat.

Maybe Byrd develops into something, maybe not. Can't depend on that. Samuel has the speed, but he's still really raw as a WR and was best working underneath last season. Clay is a dedicated return man who shouldn't be seeing much time on the field as a WR.

Any way you look at it, right now,we have a lot of speed in that WR room. If Norv can figure it all out? He has a lot of pieces to work with, so we have that going for us.

I still think we add another WR in the draft with one of our four picks in the first three rounds too.

As much as I would love a guy that we all can call a true #1 WR. I don't see it happening this year. We have Fun, and Smith. Two guys whom you could call solid vets. Then we have Samuel, and Byrd. Two guys the coaches really like. Throw in Clay, and that is a group  you can work with.

IMO, it all comes down to what Norv, and RR think of this group. I guess we will see as we move forward. Because I just don't see us bringing in a WR, unless he can be our Alpha. Otherwise, there may be too many cooks in the kitchen.

We are almost painted into a corner at WR. We need to see what our kids can bring. And bringing in additional WRs may only muddle the waters, and could also take reps away from the kids.

I'd be willing to bet that Smith resurrects his career in Charlotte, it will be Ginnesque.

Just looking at those clips it is easy to see that 1, 2, 4, and 6 were all under throws. We've seen it with Ginn before, some speed players simply cannot play with a quarterback that doesn't have elite arm strength. While he does struggle with drops from time to time, it is nothing that this fan base hasn't experienced before with Ginn. Torrey will do fine.

The only good thing is defenses have to account for him which opens up Funch and others.

Which is fair.

Could it be argued that Samuel does the same, with the first game against ATL as a reference point?
